I Might Ditch OLED For Mini LED - Hisense 85U8N Review
Fellas, I'm just gonna come right out and say it. Yes, I'm actually considering buying a mini LED TV over OLED this year, and it's all high sense's fault because of their new U8N.

This thing has a ton of stuff going for it. It's got me really excited for mini LED, and no, it's not going to dethrone OLED. OLED's always gonna have the best picture quality, but mini LED is getting way better, way cheaper, and way larger, and what it can deliver is something that OLED might not be able to depending on your situation, and that's why today we're gonna be taking a deep dive into the 85-inch Hisense 2024 U8N, and trust me, you're gonna wanna watch this whole thing through because there's a lot of really interesting things I found that will determine whether or not you would wanna buy a TV like this.

As a former Best Buy retail employee, I never thought in a million years that I would be buying a Hisense TV... just purchased the U8N yesterday.

I bought a Hisense U8H for like $650 at 55 inches. Hits as hard as displays twice the price for the same size. It's cured my desire for an expensive OLED. Can't recommend these Hisense miniLED displays more highly!

Owned a Hisense TV 20 years ago, still working very well today. The color still beats 99.9% TV out there. Just give it a try, u won't be disappointed at its price.

I have the 75" U8N in my living room and managed to pick it up while it was $600 off during the Black Friday in July sales. This TV will undoubtedly serve me well for years to come. And for what it's worth, I also purchased the U7N 55" for my bedroom, which is very impressive in its own right.

I've had my heart set on this TV since last year (the 8K model was 2023, but was planning on my home theater for 2024, so decided I would just wait for the 2024 model, the 8N).

If I can somehow get my hands on a 77" C3 or C4 for $2k or less (highly unlikely) come this holiday season, definitely going for the 75U8N.

i just went up to my local best buy to check this tv out because i’ve wanted an OLED from LG really ever since they came out. i was fortunate enough to own a couple of the last panasonic plasma tv’s that my parents still have and love 12 years later. still a beautiful picture too . i own a 65 hisense led and it’s aight. no complaints….. it does what i need it to in a sun room so i’m open to anything that can provide the best bang for my buck. now i’m not sure if best buy had the display for this ( in the 75 inch version) on TURD mode but it didn’t impress me AT ALL. Truth be told i was disappointed but the OLED’s from LG were just so much better so that’s what i’ll go with 🤷🏻‍♂️

Great review and a particular thanks about the gradient demo, most if not all reviewers don't talk about it! 👍

Great review. I just purchased the 100 inch U8, never thought I’d buy one to replace a 77in OLED. So far, love’n it!
Can you provide the best settings for color as mentioned please.

It's always good to bring competition to OLED TVs and potentially dragged their price down with this kind of agressive price/performance MIni LED TVs.

You can set windows to BGR mode, unlike other subpixel layouts BGR is supported in windows

Only 1295 dimming zones? My research shows that the 65 inch model has up to 1600. So, the 85 inch version has less?

Can you please review the TCL C855 or the QM8 from last year?

The 85" U8N is on sale for $1, 799 right now. Should I jump on it or wait and save up for an OLED?

I have the U8G, I'm looking at the U8N or U9N as not as much an Upgrade as a Replacement for the 52" Mitsubishi in the Back Room... I'd Replace the Mitsu with the U8G and put the U8/U9N in the Living Room... I also have a 27" Sony Trinitron Tube TV I'd even Consider Replacing with the U8G... I have my PC Hooked Up to the U8G in the Living Room right now for Movies, Streaming and Games...

Also kicking around the Hisense Laser Projectors...

I’m not sure anything can replace per pixel local dimming for me.

Oh the point of mentioning the below earlier was big TV better than small TV. Even if you have to go with an inferior technology compared to OLED to get there. Basically I'm agreeing with this video.

I love this OLED I'm typing this on. However, my main TV is an Ultra Short Throw projector. Picture is either 120" on its screen or even larger against the wall directly. (I don't have black out curtains or such so it really only shines at night. Though for me that's no biggie.)

Grabbed this today (85" u8n) for $2498🇨🇦. Coming from a 5 yr old 65" sony. Gets delivered tomorrow. Only other thing i considered was the 85" Qm8 but they are bonkers price wise up here.
