This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Social Media Marketing is not 'Rocket Science'. We've had the web for 25 years now and social networks for around 15 years. It's time that brands got to grips with social media and treated it with the same professionalism they have for long time applied to their traditional (offline) media. This talk is a 'call to action' for brand owners to seize this opportunity.

Mike Berry is an internationally recognised digital marketing lecturer, trainer, consultant and author. In a 30-year marketing career, he has worked with many of the world's largest brands and agencies. For the last 10 years has focused on digital marketing. Mike teaches at Imperial College Business School, Hult International Business School and the Universities of Warwick and Cranfield. He is a fellow of the IDM and the CIM. Mike is passionate about the integration of creativity and technology to build sustainable brand value.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
