Do you feel like content on average is becoming better or worse?

I'm gonna play devil's advocate. I feel long form content is about to make a huge comeback. With all this low attention span TikTok, reels, shorts, people will eventually crave long form community and relatability again. Short form content will never be able to connect the viewer. People want that type of connection. We are already seeing long form content come back with the roll out of YouTube podcasts and Livestreams are going to be huge going forward. Social media is always evolving.
I think short form is a trend that will eventually die off because of the lack of human experience And connection.

I love these kinds of videos that are like short, perfectly planned podcasts where I can just listen to you share your perspective at this moment in history.

I detest short form content. Once instagram started shoving it down our throats it was very upsetting. And fb putting the reels in your feed. I've never used tiktok. Youtube is the best.

I'm from LA originally but lived in Europe for 8 years and EVERYONE made fun of me for what I did for work. This was back in 2016-2019. Pretty much everyone thought I was a bum in Europe (NOT back in the US). Now that I've went viral several times, all the people I met in Europe are now saying how they know me. But actually were the meanest to me while I was living there. So I guess Europe is now seeing what being an artist online can do for YOUR BUSINESSES. I know what you're talking about and happy for your success man!!!! Great VIDEO! Ps. Also didn't finish university and got SO MUCH backlash while living in Europe as well.

I am doing shorts and tiktoks and I feel like YouTube Shorts are future because people have short span of attention now, and it's really popular with Gen Z (almost as much as TikTok). That's why I am trying to make content for both platforms, but I generally put my focus on short expressive videos (and then I use a little bit of Famester as well to get easier into the loop) Easy business honestly.

Everyone is a content creator, but who is left to simply watch?

Social media has come a long way from random every day posts of sunrises/sunsets, our pets and breakfasts to everything being a constant ad or trend and keeping up with the social media Joneses 😅

Hey Dom! I'm having a little problem lately. I've always focused high quality content since I started with tiktok 1 year ago. I edit in premiere and really spend a couple hours just making sure the hook is right and everything seems good for the viewers.

With that, I managed to get over 100k followers pretty fast and around 30k monthly listeners in spotify (I make music so my content focuses on my songs) but then I had like a 3-4 months gap of not really making content at all because of a travel and summer vacations in my country. Now I came back creating even BETTER content, with more editing, better hooks, better lightning, better subtitles, and I cant get 10% of the views I was getting last year...

Is this like a punishment for spending too much time without posting and I need to claim my spot again? For now I'll just keep on posting the best I can, but its really hard sometimes when you spend 5 hours on a 1 minute video that used to get you at least 300k views and now it does 5k

Thanks and sorry for the long text.

GREAT POINT: The grass is never greener!

Short form content is already and will keep dying. Which makes sense, as it has no inherent value. If you want to build your existence on a short sighted trend, go for it, but I´d not recommend it. Of course you can get viral and sell out yourself short term with sponsors, but you will not build up reputation in your space without long format evergreen content. Which is what you want to have, if you plan on doing social media in 5years from now, instead of going back to a 9-5.

Short term video content is terrifying. Like, this was the major change that lead to a massive psychological health crisis kind of terrifying.

Yes, you beautiful and wise soul, it is true, the grass is never greener anywhere else, the only way to find lush green grass is to tend to and nurture the seeds you sow

I have a belief that what creates each new social platform that jumps on to the scene is the combination of a lot of things but mostly some new format combined with the spontaneity of content. You always hear people talk about the best days of a platform being at the beginning for that reason. It seems as though a good choice is a blend of a solid establishment of a platform or company behind it, while still targeting a new format that has room to play.

I am by no means an expert, but I actually disagree with you. The average person is craving authenticity from the content they consume and *not* more highly polished, one-man media corporation, spending all their time creating content type of content. That’s not relatable and it’s also not sustainable not for almost anybody, and with the influx of people making Content fewer and fewer of those people are going to be able to only make content and make a living off of it it’s gonna have to be a supplement to something else.

I don't think people leave for other platforms just because it's easier. Many people left and are still leaving as there is no stability. You can be flying high one week and getting followers, reach etc and suddenly the rug is pulled from underneath you. Firstly leaves a bad taste in the mouth and damages trust on the platform. Not seen any positive progress for Instagram in a long time. Secondly it's demotivating and I think that is the main issue. Such a shame but thats how it is.
