my advice is to have a lot of patience, it took me 18 seasons but I won the champions league with cliftonville

Start with a team you're a fan of, then you will know what formation should work, who the best players are etc. You'll also probably have a more close affection to the save as well.

I started playing FM this year, and I started with Gateshead FC in the National League. I managed to get promoted in my very first year of the save after winning against Oldham on Penalties in the Playoff Final.

I was still learning the game so it took me about 5 seasons to leave League Two. I left as Champions of League Two and I am currently in a fight for promotion from League one, which isn't going well because I have 2 important starters who got month long injuries and 3 loans were recalled because I didn't follow where the managers wanted them to play.

Update: We had some rutts. I choked automatic promotion and slipped down to 6th place. But, WE ARE CHAMPIONSHIP AFTER BEATING BRADFORD CITY 3-2 AT WEMBLEY!!!

Update 2: I managed to survive relegation from the Championship at 20th place. Now, I am navigating the transfer window to add new quality to the team.

If you do a lot of work on a computer, keep it open in the background and tab back to it every few minutes while you're working. Guaranteed to cut your productivity by half.

My best advice, Dont be afraid to leave a job, Even if you are doing okay. Dont be afraid to use youth players even if they dont seem good enough. Dont Change tactics cold turkey, but rather change tactics to either balanced or cautious first.

Best advice is at 10:00 -play with the team you know the best. The attributes, tactics, and transfers are the most overwhelming. If you already know the answers IRL it's significantly less intimidating to set up a tactic and decide who your core squad is, what your team needs are, and who you need to sell.

I love to start games in the lower leagues, and promote them to the top over time - you learn by playing, and it's very satisfying winning promoting to the top leages and start competing for the top trohpies with a team you built more or less from scratch :)

In the beginning I picked my own Club, first Club abroad was Dinamo Zagreb, after that one of the top 3 in either Portugal or Netherlands, installed my first Mod and took over a fourth divison club in germany, installed more databases and played in Australia (hell of contract rules), built a Nation in Northern Ireland, installed realism mods and tackled Liechtenstein Challenge (just reached CL, is put on pause for now), create tedious filters for Bilbao Style recruiting at Atletic Balearis, watch YT Guides and deep dives (R.I.P. Evidence Based FM) on things I didn't understand.

Starting with the Northern Ireland save in 2020 play casual MP with friends in Germany, French and Italian league

Next one will be the first no attributes run

I play FM by assigning all my scouting and training to my staff, set up my tactics, and then go into the match and shout depending on score. We concede, I press demand more. We score, I press praise. Nothing really more than that

As far delegation goes I use the editor to buff the stats of the Technical Director & Director of Football, and then delegate everything relevant to them haha

Funny thing: been playing since FM 2008 and the more I play, the less I want to do. Nowadays, I delegate training, friendlies, everything U21/U18 related, interviews, staff renewals (after building a godlike staff). The only thing I do is scout, buy/sell players, player renewals, tactics and play matches. All the rest I pretty much delegate.
