Wow, Vegeta sounds so threatening in this scene. Like there is still evil inside of him! Something we could never see in the English version, with all due respect, I still find his American voice great but this one really does reflect the way he is! Ryo Horakawa is a real legend!

This is so much different from the English dub where Goku tries to reason with Vegeta. In here, Goku doesn’t try to reason, he just straights up grabs Vegeta’s arm, tells him to stop, and then just stares Vegeta down. A small detail but a huge difference, because this shows that Goku wasn’t playing games with Vegeta and Vegeta knew, which is why he calmed down lol

I love how this scene represents Vegeta’s growth. If this were the Freeza Saga, Vegeta would’ve mocked Gohan for being too weak.

But now he’s genuinely disappointed that the kid who had surpassed him is squandering his potential. It’s so different from Vegeta’s animosity towards Goku. When Goku has one-up on Vegeta, he’s angry. But he seems to accept and is at some points proud of Gohan’s strength.

I would have loved to have seen Gohan fight Vegeta in this scene. Especially after Vegeta let Babidi into his head. I mean no doubt Vegeta would defeat Gohan with ease but I honestly think it would’ve been amazing to see them fight again. The last time Gohan and Vegeta fought was way back when Vegeta first came to Earth. I don’t count the filler episode where they fought after Goku defeated Frieza.

I mean..I miss goku being serious like this compared to goku in super. He noticed that vegeta was going too far even though all he wanted was have a fight with goku. So he stepped in and told him to knock it off. He really enjoys fight here but he didn't really want to let something bad happen.

Kind of like a child king in charge of many people's livelihoods, he bears an enormous responsibility to operate fairly under crooked circumstances

You could say that his role is to be sort of arrested, unlike the Saiyans who can adapt universally and be trained by the likes of Whis. I am reminded of Gabriel in Constantine "I will show you horror, so that you may learn to rise above it"

Anyway, Kiaoshin honors his role faithfully. [He] sort of fills the void Trunks as the tragic character

The buu saga is the only saga where I prefer the falconer score to kikuchi, at least the kikuchi score shuts up at least lol. Also this is Ryo's best performance imo.
