Recipe: 1 bar Fels-Naptha laundry soap 2 cups washing soda 2 cups oxy-type cleaning powder 1.5 cups baking soda

**Update** I have washed with this recipe and I like it! Next time I make this size batch, I may add 1 cup kosher salt to act as a water softener. I am sticking to this recipe, I love knowing what I am putting in my clothes to wash them!

Oh my. The oxy bleach releases hydrogen peroxide when dissolved. You added water, (you said a lot). It released hydrogen peroxide and lost its bleaching capability because it decomposed to oxygen and water. You wasted it. All the oxy product reverted to washing soda.

Baking soda isn’t needed. It’s just a filler. Waste of $.

You didn’t make a detergent. It contains no detergents. The only surfactant is bar soap. It’s a laundry soap.
