The iPhone 5C was fine. Lot's of my friends and family had it as their first iPhone. They're still using iPhones so I do not think it is a failed product. It was a "cheaper" way to get familiarised with iPhones and it worked.

I owned a 5C and I very liked it. It was the only iPhone which didn’t needed a case…

I miss the days when $199 was not cheap for a phone…

The 5C was aboslutely not a failure. It allowed so many to expand into Apple's ecosystem, the colors were awesome, and it was very durable.

The 5c was THE phone to have in high school when it first came out. I always thought it was generally assumed to be a starter phones for kids.

The iPhone 5c was pretty popular in high school when I got it lots of teenagers at the time loved the colors and would always compare what color each person went with.

5c looks so nice especially when putting a transparent case to show off the color of the phone.

I owned a green 5c. I loved the color and the design. Even though it was made of plastic it had a good quality. I never felt like having a cheap product. The only problem was the battery constantly overheating and very short lasting.

I had the 5c and absolutely loved it. One side effect of the plastic shell is that it survived side impacts better and was easier to replace the screen. On metal iPhones you commonly had to reshape the sides when replacing a display, the 5C pretty much kept its shape but squished. Much easier to get a replacement display to fit correctly.

that 5C material should have been used on the Vision Pro to save on weight

The iPhone 6 was the worst iPhone ever and the 5C was good enough, specially for low end markets.
This is a hill I'm willing to die on.

I worked the Apple Store at that time. They sold *plenty* of 5Cs to kids and grandparents. It just was under-shadowed by the S.

5C doesn't feel cheap. The plastic case may sounds cheap, but actually feels quite nice in your hand.

Apple is what doomed the 5c. Still one of my favorite phones ever. Apple completely gimped it by refusing to give it quality specs. I still have my green 5c laying around somewhere

This strategy is the same one that Google is using with the A series. The iPhone 5C is the iPhone that everyone wanted, a cheap iPhone. But they complained so much that Apple decided to make its phones more premium in build following the X.

I had the 3G, 4S, 5 and 5C. I thought it would be nice to have some colour on an iPhone for a change.

The only issue was that because it was essentially a 5, it felt like I just bought the same phone as i had. Plus the plastic scratched very easily and the blue was lighter than I would have liked.

At the time Samsung, Sony and others were coming out with way better specced phones and so the iPhone really seemed stagnant.

So after a year I sold the 5c and got an Xperia Z2. Fantastic phone and it was way ahead of iPhone in every way.

The XR was definitely the C done right but it was too bulky and underspecced compared to my S7 Edge at the time, so I never went for it.

Now however is the right time to get back to iPhone because they've finally caught up and surpassed android in some ways. Their hardware is finally on par too
