A strategy is the general approach that defines how you want to achieve your goals in career, business or any other aspect of life.

For example, a coach may define his winning strategy as defensive. We want to focus on defending well against opponent, and attack at the right moment with high precision and success rate.

Russian strategy in world war II may be defined as a classical defensive strategy, where they defending against German attack, letting them spread and wearing them down with time. Once, they had fully understood German tactics and strengths they began to retaliate and defeated Germans through effective counter attacks.
