How To Make Bengali Fish Curry Recipe - Masala Fish Curry recipe - How To Make Salmon Fish Curry
Fish curry is popular in Bengali cuisine. West Bengal is a state in the eastern part of India and people living there are known as Bengalis. For the Bengalis fish is an essential part of their diet. No Bengali meal is complete without fish and rice. Usually fresh water carp is cooked daily in every Bengali household and it is made in a very simple way using just the basic spices. In this video I showed you a Bengali fish curry recipe made in a special way yet simple and quick to make. I have used salmon but you can even use fish with bones and any fish of your choice. Ingredients required for making fish curry -
* 570 gm / 1.3 lb boneless skinless salmon or any fish of your choice. Apply about 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder, sprinkle of salt and one teaspoon of oil, to the fish and rub in very well.
* 1 medium to large onion finely chopped
* 5 cloves of garlic or 1 tablespoon finely grated
* 1 & 1/2 inch length ginger or little less than a tablespoon of grated ginger
* 1 teaspoon salt or salt to taste
* 4 tablespoon tomato puree or 2 large ripe tomatoes pureed in your blender
* coriander leaves(cilantro) or parsley for garnish
* 3 to 4 tablespoons oil. I used mustard oil but you can use any oil of your choice. If using mustard oil, heat the oil on high heat till It starts smoking and then add the fish.
For the spice paste -
* 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
* 1 & 1/2 teaspoon Kashmiri red chilli powder or paprika if want to avoid the heat
* 2 teaspoons ground coriander (dhania)
* 1 teaspoon ground cumin ( jeera)
* 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
Serve this with hot steamed rice.
