Fish Curry (Machli ka salan)
Recipe in English:
Ingredients:
Fish Marinade:
Yogurt 1 & ½ cup
Red chili powder 1 & ½ tbs
Turmeric powder ½ tsp
Coriander powder 1 & ½ tbs
Ginger garlic paste 2 tbs
Salt 2tsp or to taste
Lemon juice 2-3 tbs
Fish (Surmai) 1 kg
Fish Gravy:
Oil ¾ cup
Fenugreek seeds ½ tsp
Nigella seeds 1 tsp
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Fennel seeds 1 tsp (crushed)
Curry leaves 15-20 leaves
Onion 3 medium (finely chopped)
Water 1-2 cups
Whole spice powder 1 tsp
Fresh coriander (chopped) for garnishing
Directions:
Fish Marinade:
-Wash fish properly with water.
-In a bowl, add yogurt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, ginger garlic paste, salt and lemon juice; mix well.
-Add fish and give it a good mix.
-Marinate fish for 1-2 hours.
Fish Gravy:
-In pot, heat oil and add fenugreek seeds, nigella seeds, mustard seeds, fennel seeds and curry leaves, sauté for a minute.
-Add onion (finely chopped) and fry until light golden.
-Now add marinated fish and cook on a high flame for 5-7 minutes or until oil appears on surface.
-Add water, cover and cook on medium low flame for 10-15 minutes.
-Lastly add whole spice powder and fresh coriander (chopped) and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
-Fish curry is ready.

Dahi1 & ½ cup
Lal mirch 1 & ½ tbs
Haldee powder ½ tsp
Dhania powder 1 & ½ tbs
Adrak lehsan paste 2 tbs
Namak 2tsp or hasb e zaiqa
Lemmo ka rus 2-3 tbs
Machli (Surmai) 1 kg
Fish Gravy:
Oil ¾ cup
Meethi dana ½ tsp
Kalonji 1 tsp
Rai dana 1 tsp
Saunf 1 tsp (crushed)
Kari pata 15-20 leaves
Pyaz 3 medium (finely chopped)
Pani 2 cups
Garam masala powder 1 tsp
Hara dhania (chopped) for garnishing
Directions:
For Fish marination:
-Bowl mein dahi, lal mirch powder, haldee powder, dhania powder, adrak lehsan paste, namak aur lemmo ka rus dal ker mix ker lein.
-Machli shamil karein aur ache tarhan mix ker lein.
-1-2 hours keliya marinate ker lein.
For Gravy:
-Pot mein oil garam karein,meethi dana, kalonji,rai dana,saunf aur kari pata dal ker ek minute kliya saute ker lein.
-Pyaz (finely chopped) dal ker halki sunhairi hunay tak fry ker lein.
-Ab is mein marinated machli dal ker tez ancch per 5-7 minutes ya oil upper anay tak paka lein.
-Pani shamil karein,dhak ker darmiyani ancch per 10-15 minutes kliya paka lein.
-Akhir mein garam masala powder aur hara dhania (chopped) dal ker 2-3 mins kliya dum per rakh dein.
-Machli ka salan tayyar hai.
