Solving Percent Word Problems

Solve percent word problems. These word problems can be solved using part over whole equal percent over 100.
Example problems include,
Martin was given 10 math problems and has answered 7 of the questions. What percent of the problems does he have left?

The Braves won 60% of the 150 games they played. How many games did they win?

There are 32 students in Mr. B’s class. 28 students were present. What percent of Mr. B’s students were present?

At first I didn't understand why you divided by 10, 2nd problem was divide by 100, 3rd problem was divide by 32.
I didn't understand how you were deciding what to divide by but then I realized it was whatever number was multiplied by x, right?

Excellent video, thank you! I would be careful of using the % symbol as a variable. Writing %/100 will confuse some students, not to mention that is mathematically incorrect. It might sound picky, but math IS a language and how we write it IS important. That being said, very well explained! Cheers!
