Overall, the 6th ed. ($80) is better, but much more expensive. I recommend the 4th int. ed. ($25) for most readers.

I like having a specific list of vector axioms stated.

It is interesting to see differences in editions, as wells as same edition with different publishers:

Mine is 4th edition but Wellesley Cambridge Press, and first entries of table of contents are:

1. Introduction to vectors
2. Solving linear equations
3. Vector spaces and subspaces (but no mention of A=CR)
4. Orthogonality

Aren't they different books? One is '...and its Applications', the other is 'Introduction to...'

They are not merely different editions of each other, as indeed there is a 4th edition of the latter which is also not this book

I guess Strang gave up on this 'version' and only kept improving the 'Introduction to'

Can you do type theory and proof theory book recommendations please?
For proof theory I require only the parts used by type theory papers to be honest..Also I lack the prerequisites to properly understand type theory.
What parts of logic are used specifically for type theory and what books can I use to truly master the prerequisites? Thank you.

Why is 6th Edition has 100 pages lesser than the 5th edition? Same goes with lesser chapters in 6th than 5th Ed?
