When my daughter was a toddler she would wake up screaming, saying that she wanted her real mummy. She would swear that I was her second mummy not her real one. As she got older she'd say that her real mummy lived in the big white house by the lake. Gradually she grew out of it but I've always wondered if she'd had a previous life or do kids sometimes have repeating dreams and can't distinguish between dreams and reality? Altho it certainly seemed very real to me.

Aside from reincarnation, the theory of the Akashic River holds that all human knowledge is pooled. Sometimes it may be possible for people to "dip into" this river and come up with memories that are not their own but have been experienced. I don't really know, but it's an intriguing proposition.
