I think what this camera represents is breaking more barriers for videographers in terms of gear ; at $1800, this thing is such an accessible avenue to having amazing videos without having to feel like you need to take a loan out for your camera, and it’s amazing for a b/c camera . The s35 truthfully doesn’t bother me much, coming from things like a pocket 4K/6K and the c200, sure there’s a difference, but it’s a great place to start for a cinema camera ( i ordered it 😅)

This is very exciting. As I'm moving up in the ranks of filmmaking, buying a camera becomes all the more complicated. Now that I've used ARRI's, it's very hard to justify buying a mid-range camera like the Komodo or an FX9, if I can just get the big guns onto a project via rental. But this seems like it's perfect to own, as it's significantly more affordable, but still has a stellar image, and it pairs nicely with the lenses I already own!

I have one on pre-order already to replace my trusty a6400, which will become my new B-Cam/dedicated photography camera. Stoked to rig out this camera with a cage and a monitor etc. and really make this my workhorse!

I pre ordered it. I have been wanting to get another camera and a buddy recommended this . Its more than I need and I do not really make films but I am excited to learn it and play with it. I have an a6600 so my current lens will all work.

Super 35 have its pros and cons to work with but when you can work around it, then you have a superb camera. Fx30 for $1, 800 is very affordable and gives so much to new filmmakers. Not sure what else can you ask for from Sony as I would love to have this camera back in 2016. Could have done so much with it and be able to buy new lenses at hte same time. Great camera overall!

At 01:54, just a clarification. The field-of-view remains the same whether you are using an APSC lens or a full frame lens. So, a 16mm APSC lens and a 16mm Full Frame lens would give you same field of view on FX30. It's when the sensor size changes that the field of view would change. Thanks for the review.

I've been shooting with the Sony NEX VG20 E mount APSC video camera and have wanted to move up to the modern world. I like APSC, have my lenses already and wanted to stick with it so my only real choice was the A6600. I'm glad I waited because this will fit the bill nicely!

Sony FX30 means I can fully utilized all of Sirui 1.3x Anamorphic APS-C lenses. I'm buying this. Awesome.

Love the s35 format. Just picked up a C70 and its incredible. Cool thing is I am not missing full frame because Canon made a 0.71x speed booster so you can use full frame EF glass and the perfect combination is the 24-70mm F4 which ends up being a 17-75mm F2.8 after speed boosted. 16 stops of dynamic range with the DGO sensor, built in ND filters, false color, xlr inputs, Canon color science, and NETFLIX approved. I considered an FX3 but there is no competition when you compare the two. The C70 is on the FX6 level but way more portable with a sensor from the $11, 000 C300 MK3.
