Looking after one self is certainly a highly recommended act in Islam but as the Sheikh says when it starts becoming an obsession in terms of abusing your body with various substances then this not good at all.

Protein isn’t haram it’s an essential nutrient found in all of our foods.

As Muslims we need to build strength and muscle. It's a form of self defense as less people are going to start a fight with you due to your size.

- [00:00]🍽 Eating in a large calorie surplus for muscle gain is known as "bulking."
- [01:18]💧 Divide your food, liquids, and breathing into three parts for moderation.
- [03:37]💪 Bulking for bodybuilding is permissible, but obsession or boasting about physique can make it Haram.

alhamdullilah i am a 19 year old man, i’ve been training for 2 years. i have a good physique and incredible strength standing at 6’2 205 pounds currently bulking to 220 lbs

just wanted to correct one thing. protein is not haram, its not a steroid and you get it from food anyway. if you take whey protein powder as a supplement to your diet, its not haram and will benefit you immensely. just ensure the protein powder you take doesn’t contain any haram ingredients and you’re good

I believe he mentioned "protein" 1:32 mistakenly as an example. He meant steroid, growth hormone is haram when you're just doing it in normal conditions.

In my case, I workout from home as I have bought some dumbbells and a barbell. I keep it balanced along with my other obligations such as Salah, work etc. Alhumdullilah, it has a positive impact on the lifestyle and it saves me from fitna that is prevalent through movies, films etc. It is one of the best investment of your time if done correctly as the Sheikh said.

Lastly, lifting weights should improve your other aspects of life such as your relations, your work and most importantly your agility in prayers and worshipping Allah.

I'm doing bodybuilding only to please Allah!
Even today in Ramadhan i feel praying 29 rakh of long taraweeh like nothing for me.
I really want to pray more and slowly.

for those who are confused: intake of alternative protein is halal and very effective, but it shouldn't contain haram ingredients.

goodluck to any bodybuilder kick-starting their mission or is about to finish it. may Allah grant you help for finishing it.

Dear sheikh u have far more Islamic knowledge than myself but when it comes to supplements I feel that you do not understand what protein powder is made of. It's not made of anything Haram or even unhealthy, it's simply protein extracted from milk which when used in moderation is actually good for health, not just muscles. Other than that I agree with everything. Have a blessed day

When sheikh said protein I think he meant to say testosterone, as he said right after that, "steroids", as if to clarify what he meant by testosterone. People acting in the comment section as if the sheikh is making protein haram, use your intellect.
