Low Engine Oil Symptoms
In this video I am going to explain the 7 common symptoms of low engine oil. Motor oil is crucial for your engine, it is responsible for lubricating, protect the engine from corossion/rust and cooling the moving parts of the engine.

If your engine oil is too low, there are common signs and symptoms to look for, here are the most common signs of low engine oil

Symptoms of Low Engine Oil:
Now, let's get into the symptoms of low engine oil, which are important to recognize for preventing potential engine damage.

Warning Light on Dashboard: The most immediate sign of low engine oil is the illumination of the oil pressure warning light on your dashboard. This is a red flag to check your oil level immediately.

Engine Noise and Knocking: If your engine suddenly sounds louder or you hear knocking sounds, it’s a sign of increased friction among engine parts due to inadequate lubrication.

Overheating Engine: Engine oil plays a part in dissipating heat. Low oil levels can lead to insufficient cooling, causing your engine to overheat.

Dirty or Smelly Oil: Regularly checking the oil dipstick is a good practice. If the oil is dirty, gritty, or has a burnt smell, it's a sign your oil may be low and needs changing.

Poor Performance: If your car feels sluggish or has lost some power, it could be due to low engine oil affecting its performance.

Exhaust Smoke: Blue or gray exhaust smoke is a telltale sign of burning oil, indicating possible oil leaks or low levels.

Engine Stalling: In severe cases, extremely low oil levels can lead to engine stalling or difficulties in starting the car.

I had no response on the gas pedal at times while driving. Then the truck would go. Almost felt like no fuel. Naturally I thought maybe a sensor or the fuel pump. But I had the fuel pump changed 2 years prior. So I had a mechanic put a crankshaft sensor in. It seemed fine for 5 miles then did the same thing. Brought the truck back to the shop and after diagnosing the truck all day, the oil was 4 quarts low. I have a 2011 dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi. I dint understand how my oil light didn’t come on. The truck didn’t overheat either. And my oil pressure was normal. But my mechanic swears that’s what did it. I’m picking up the truck tomorrow after he drives it some more miles to be sure. The check engine light stayed off and he says it’s running great. Is this possible?

If you see the oil light or hear knocking...the engine is dead.

And ironically, oil change is the easiest way to take care of a car yet the most overlooked.
