John Dutton II is 100% not Jack's kid, it's Spencer's. They clearly say at the end of 1923 that the premature baby is named John, after his brother. This makes Tate the 6th. We don't need 1944 to explain this...it's unambiguous from the info in 1923 alone.

According to this clip Dabney Coleman's John Dutton was about 90 when he died, so he did live to "about 100yrs old"

No need for another generation. My Grandfather was born in 1881 ( Jack Dutton), my father in 1920 (John 2), and myself in 1956 John Dutton). Superimpose the Dutton line on these years and you'll see there is no need for that extra generation.
