“Someday my family may seek to hunt that valley. And if they do, you remember me.” James took those words to heart. The Natives gave his daughter a place to rest and his family to thrive on, it’s the least he can do.

How this scene plays out makes more sense after watching the prequel. Their respect for the Indians was gained on the journey to this land.

And Dutch shows up to James’s land saying “I’ve got a plan.” Arthur and John are in the back shaking their head.

After finishing 1883, this scene has a lot more meaning. The relationship and respect, that the Dutton's had for the Natives was strong. I look forward to seeing more of their story next season.

As someone who started with 1883 and loved 1883 this flashback just warms my heart.
I kinda want to watch it again but I don't know if I want to put myself through that emotional pain again

Tim McGraw makes a pretty good actor. Excellent sound quality in this scene with the sounds of cold leather as he shifts in his saddle. Excellent story here. I love the authenticity of the props and the compassion shown toward his fellow man. Kudos to Sheridan for brilliant writing.

There are a few music artists who are equally strong actors and actresses. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill DEFINITELY fit into this category. I was impressed by their acting skills in 1883, and the only problem I have is that the show was a limited-run series! Give me a thumbs up if you also cried during every episode!

Close your eyes and just listen to the guy talking about putting his father in the tree. Such good acting. Makes you pine for a time when he could find peace.

I haven't reached this far into Yellowstone, but 1883 was epic! I'm still shaken by how good that was. Seeing this flashback warms my heart. I just started 1923, but I wish there was more of a backstory into building that empire and claiming all of that land.

Best part was James giving them some of his cattle to eat for free so they wouldn't starve. Even though the Duttons have to make a living off selling their cattle. That part showed just how much James and his family liked and respected Native Americans for helping the Duttons find land and tried helping their daughter who died.

I didn’t know I needed Tim McGraw and Faith Hill in a show…. You live and you learn.
Loving s4 so far! I hope we get at least 2-3 more seasons with the family.
