With the Covid-19 pandemic, it has once again become clear what role the category of gender plays in economic structures: It was mainly women who had to take on large shares of unpaid care work and were affected by layoffs and loss of pay. Economics is not gender-neutral, but is deeply marked by gender inequality. Feminist economics has made it its task to analyse these connections and make them visible.

But what constitutes feminist economics? How can it be used to better understand and possibly change economics? What (economic) political effects do demands of feminist economics entail, in Germany and worldwide?

The renowned Indian economist Jayati Ghosh will introduce feminist economics and then discuss with the Green Party's Chairperson Ricarda Lang.

With:
Welcome and introduction: Jörg Haas, International Policy Officer, International Cooperation Department.

Panel:
- Jayati Ghosh, Professor of Economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Executive Director of International Development Economics Associates.
- Ricarda Lang, Co-leader and Women's Policy Spokesperson of the green party

Moderation: Imme Scholz, Executive Director, Heinrich Böll Foundation Berlin
