I'm pretty sure I often solo in 7/16. Usually while everyone else is just in 4/4 or something. I mean, it's close, right?

I think all of these tips also work really well for playing over something with a tempo you can't keep up with - just alter the subdivision tip from '16ths' to 'whatever you can manage'. We used a similar approach in Uni to play over Cherokee at 330bpm; rather than trying to play constant 8ths at tempo we'd hear the song in half or even quarter time; so long as you keep the harmonic rhythm at 330bpm and resolve on the right chord tone you can almost play ballad tempo phrases. It's obviously not a 'good' as being able to fly through the changes at tempo but works a lot better than failing at in front of an audience because you can't keep up.
