Thank you for sharing this very important information Sarah❤️! I had preeclampsia with my first pregnancy and it was really scary because I didn’t know anything about it and it happened so suddenly. I’m now a doula and I share my birth story on my channel as well to help other mommas out there🙏🏿. Thank you for continuing to inspire me in this field💕!

Sarah you are the best! I’ve had two gestational hypertension pregnancies and we are starting to talk about baby #3. I always grow healthy babies but I am closely monitored and induced at 37 weeks. I love my doctor but this series just helped calm me down! It’s scary to be told that bad things can happen to you or your baby. You put it in such a great way that gives me confidence in myself and my medical team ❤️ Thank you! Thank you!

I had preeclampsia and was induced at 39 weeks ... ended up with an unwanted cesarean. My BP immediately went down with delivery but then 5 days pp spiked to 158 over 110 😖 with a killer headache. My doctor gave my Labetol TID, luckily 6 to 7 weeks pp I was able to discontinue it. I wish at discharge front the hospital they told me to check my BP at home or that it could spike pp too. I thought my headache was from lack of sleep from newborn life lol.

Can you discuss postpartum eclampsia and the chances of being able to have another healthy pregnancy after having it?

My pressure was like 180/135 in both of my pregnancies around 22 weeks. Wasn’t fun. They gave me no meds but I spent time in the hospital when my stress tests, done weekly, didn’t show the movement they wanted. I learned to drink orange juice during that test…lol. Bed rest and laying on my left side. Delivered my daughter 1 1/2 months early and my son 3 weeks early. I never had protein in my urine thank God. I was not allowed to walk around at all. In bed the entire time. Blood pressure taken constantly. Got the mag. Definitely made me hot but just for a few minutes. My daughter was most affected by the preeclampsia. She’s 23 and has high blood pressure. They give a med to relax her heart. I think that’s how it works. She was 4 lbs but otherwise fine. We couldn’t leave hospital until she weighed 5 lbs. My son went home when I did. I hemorrhaged bad with his birth around 8 hours after he was born. I would rather have gone through labor and delivery again. Stopping that bleeding was extremely painful. I was crying and begging for my mom. I’m 33. Little old to be doing that. Lol. I stayed in hospital about 5 days after he was born. Preeclampsia definitely isn’t fun but don’t be scared. Thankfully I was ignorant to the seriousness of the situation. I was never worried.

I had pre eclampsia at 39 weeks and was induced because my BP was fine. But I get what youre saying in terms of being limited to your options. I remember asking if I could take a bath, but I was so hooked up to things that I was pretty much limited to my bed. An epidural was then my best option for managing my pain.

I had preeclampsia with my second and was induced at 38 weeks. My doctor was on it quickly. I was slightly spilling protein in my urine at their office so she decided to induce the next day. I originally wanted to wait because I was already progressing naturally, but agreed to induction. (I was induced with my first and it wasn't a fun experience) Good thing because by the next morning when I arrived at the hospital, my blood pressure was elevated and my kidney and liver functioning was declining. They put me on magnesium for the duration. I had an awful experience on the magnesium, largely related to not being appropriately monitored and not being heard by the night shift nurse I had immediately after delivery. I'm glad we are done having kid, because I would not want to have to take that medication again.

I was 42 pregnant with my 4th and experienced pre-eclampsia for the 1st time. I was never fully explained the risks or in detail of what was going on. I was 38 weeks and told my BP was 180/110 and needed to be induced because i have pre-eclampsia. I delivered and was then diagnosed with post partum pre-eclampsia. I was never fully explained any of this nor did i understand what all it entailed

Why would they put you on magnesium AND pitocin to induce labor and not just schedule a c section? If Magnesium is a relaxing medication and pitocin contracts wouldn’t they counteract each other?

Im 36 weeks pregnant, also have gestational diabetes. Today at my prenatal appointment i had very high blood.pressure. they sent me to L&D, and monitored me. They sent me home after BP went down but sent me home with a 24 hr urine test. So tomorrow i will go back to L&D to get those results from the urine test and that will.see if i have pre eclampsia. If its really bad they will induce me. But lowkey i hope they do. Im so miserable lately!!! My legs, face, and arms are always puffy and im so uncomfortable. I just want her out already. But of course i want a natural vag birth, im terrified of c sections.
