When I emailed Ryobi about needing to replace my trimmer's head and lacking instruction in my owner's manual and on their website, they told me to take it to a certified Ryobi service center. Thanks for the video. I could not figure out how to get the upper part of the trimmer head off until you pointed the little hole thingy out. My replacement took less than a minute after I removed the broken head. Back in service!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! My original trimmer head is completely destroyed, it started fussing by only disengaging on one side while the opposite side was stuck. Undoing it without breaking it was a total nightmare (and I had to open it really often). I finally got fed up and used a large screwdriver to pry it open and thus breaking the cheap plastic tabs. I hope their new one is better designed. At least now I know how to change it and I know it's possible to buy a replacement head. Thanks again. I wish I could give you 100 likes.

Thanks! Got a replacement head and didn’t have a clue what I was looking at. But in three minutes I had it switched out. This is exactly how to replace the entire head with a generic one I got from Amazon for $14. Awesome!

The instructions that came with mine said nothing about sliding the "arrows" to meet up and release, and being the knuckle-dragging Marine that I am I broke the head when trying to disassemble it. Thank you for not only showing the proper way to slide the two halves and disassemble the unit but also how to replace the head, which I am sure I will need to do in the next year or two.
