In high school in NYC I was part of a group of the best electrical students in the city. They took us to the Department of Labor for an aptitude test. My test told me due to my inferior dexterity in my hands and based on how I processed information, I was HIGHLY unlikely to be successful in the electrical industry and I was better suited for office work. I was crushed. All I wanted to be was an electrician. I told no one of my results. I remember riding the bus home in silence while all my friends were so excited with their results. I trusted what my parents had always told me. That I could do whatever I wanted. I stayed the course. After a very lucrative 25 year career in various aspects of the electrical industry, I was recently appointed Lead Airfield Electrician at one of the airports in NYC.

I don’t tell this story to boost my own ego. I tell this story because even the institutions we know and trust to guide us when we are young, can still play a role in us doubting ourselves. Never doubt yourself. Whatever your goals are, you can achieve them with hard work, dedication and focus.

The plot, the acting & the emotions...all were in perfect sync. Will Smith has everything needed to excel in this industry....guess we all have made some bad choices, and his was pretty glaring...sad, but that's life. We are all but a sum of our choices 😢
