Will Smith stars in this moving tale inspired by the true story of Chris Gardner, a San Francisco salesman struggling to build a future for himself and his 5-year-old son Christopher (Jaden Smith). When his girlfriend Linda (Thandie Newton) walks out, Chris is left to raise Christopher (Jaden Smith) on his own. Chris' determination finally pays off when he lands an unpaid internship in a brutally competitive stockbroker-training program, where only one in twenty interns will make the cut. But without a salary, Chris and his son are evicted from their apartment and are forced to sleep on the streets, in homeless shelters and even behind the locked doors of a metro station bathroom. Watching that as a 15 year old I didn't understand, now I'm in my 30s and I'm bawling my eyes out because I know how much being hired really means.

Will smith is actually an outstanding actor. One of the best of our lifetime. Its a shame that we had to see his personal life and everything manifest the way it did a year ago. Hopefully I can go back to just appreciating his acting one day. His personal life is none of my business.

As a 24Y/O M and after watching this movie for at least 10 times today is the first time that i really undertood Chris' feeling of happiness! To everyone in here never lose hope.
Long story short, I started the year closing my startup and getting myself and my family into huge debt (we sold everything), I started looking for a job, got 100s of rejections and cried every single night before sleeping, today i received a job offer for my dream role in an amazing company, at the morning i was in tears losing hope! One email changed everything and got me into unmatched happiness!!
I was going to give up but my dream job was one email away! Never lose hope fellas, keep trying, learning and your time will come.

I am 46 years old, spent most of that time fighting to make it to the top In the IT field. I made it, at least in my area. IT Director, top dog in my company, thinking that was happiness. 2 months my wife passed and now I know that work does not bring happiness. Money can facilitate happiness, buy only to the extent that it enables you to enjoy your family. I had that for a wile. It’s gone now, along with my drive to the top. My advice, know why you’re doing it and don’t forsake that for continued success. Work and be successful but do it for a reason and take every opportunity along the way.

I experienced something like this laid off, on 07/13 I was offered a position and I’m making far more money than I imagined. When I got in my car I said a prayer, called my dad and told him I got the job and I cried. God is great!

Watched this with my dad. I was a junior in high school. We didn't have much money, and ate butter noodles a lot. I still understood this movie at a young age. I've seen a lot of highs and lows since then. I've been in the Army and homeless more than once. I have an apartment and a car with bills paid. The pursuit of happiness is a content life with just enough. Enough money, enough gas, enough food. A good balance in life is what I am searching for heavily.
