FILM DESCRIPTION:
The rousing, true-life story of a single dad who went from living on the streets to owning his own brokerage firm is brought to the big screen by superstar Will Smith, appearing for the first time opposite his real-life son Jaden Smith. Set in early-'80s San Francisco, the film charts the hard times and eventual comeback of Chris Gardner, a suddenly single salesman who has custody of his son, but finds that providing for the two of them is a challenge in the increasingly unstable economic climate. He struggles to work his way from unpaid intern at Dean Witter to something more substantial, even as life continues to offer him setbacks. Making his Hollywood debut, Italian director Gabriele Muccino was championed by Will Smith for the project.

"People can't do something themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it." So true and a great quote to remember out in the real world when people try and put you down.

What makes this so powerful is how Will shoots Jaydens dream down at first. We see him recognize his own weakness in real time. He realizes he is projecting his own failures on to his kid.

Will Smith isn't acting in this scene with his son, He's really giving his son some truthful knowledge. He was really talking to his son from the heart in this scene.

In high school, everyone said I wasn't going anywhere in life, now 5 years later I got into one of the top Graduate programs (MA of Neuroscience) in the world (top 1% of schools). I am still doubted by many.

The first time I saw this scene I literally cried when he told his son "don't ever let because my father never told me anything like that it would have been great to hear

Man, everybody has watched this movie and says it's a good movie but sometimes it feels like nobody has really watched it because how can you not cry as you watch this movie and relate to it. This is scene is the most powerful and important part of the movie in my opinion. I swear, everybody knows this scene and how true and deep the message is yet nobody FUCKING practices what this scene preaches. I swear, man, many people bash on a person's dreams or take them away because they never put themselves in their shoes. Sometimes, I feel people watch something and know something's true yet never actually understand it because they never practice or incorporate it into their own lives. Not until you devote yourself to your dream no matter will you realize the true meanings of this movie. You'll look at this movie in a different light.

The Pursuit of Happyness isn't a huge obstacle you will overcome one day. The pursuit is everyday, everyday you have to be working on your dream despite what people say. FUCK PEOPLE this is your dream and you only got one shot. Another one of my favorite parts in the movie is when Will Smith says "It was right then that I started thinking about Thomas Jefferson on the
Declaration of Independence and the part about our right to life,
liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And I remember thinking how did
he know to put the pursuit part in there? That maybe happiness is
something that we can only pursue and maybe we can actually never have
it. No matter what. How did he know that?"

No such thing as a perfect parent. We all make mistakes. I really like this scene because you see a father recognizing he just made one, and he immediately checked himself and corrected it.

This movie is so inspirational for me where I’m at in life right now. I’m currently in a pursuit of happiness! I’ve had a lot of disappointment and have been discouraged by so many important people over the past couple of years! I believe victory is around the corner!

I had to tell my daughter this today, she doubts herself so much and I just want her to see what she’s capable of. Anything is possible with faith you just have to believe

In less than 5 years now I have my own business and able to afford things I could only dream of. So I say don’t let no one put you down. Go for it put in work and u will succeed.

I wish I had me a strong father figure in my life when I were a kid. My father didn't taught me nothing. Didn't even care about my education. That's why I love this movie. Because of the strong relationship between Will and his son. He was poor, but he was still there for his son. Love it.

I know it’s a movie but I always love when a parent talks with their child like an equal, has an “adult” conversation. Even if the kid is old enough to fully understand or fully grasp the concept of the conversation. My oldest brother does this with his kid and it’s awesome. But there’s always time for imagination and games. :)
