Kris,
Your information is always so informative. Versatility in your instrument set up is so important. Always chasing tone 🎶

Pro tip: Try using a thinner pick. Going too thick can cause the notes to sound slightly muffled. A thinner pick will add brightness and attack. I currently use a 0.60 Tortex. 😬👍

Rising your string action little bit more will make the guitar “breath” more freely. Great tips Kris 👌

Nice video Kris,
speakers also play big role to change the tone.

Dial back the gain till you hit that sweet spot!!! Then crank the power section 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
I use a NUX horseman to “cut the mud”
Having high headroom on my amp and cab makes a difference too . I’m a all my tone comes from the pre in my system unlike “tube purists “ who rely on the amp and speaker break up as part of their tone. To each his (or her) own! It’s your tone make it what you want not what somebody else tells you you should do!

Happy holidays Ery bodys!

If there's one to add it's "play light". Keep both your fretting & picking hands loose & light, if you're gripping the strings as hard as possible or picking as hard as possible you're sound will have nowhere to go & likely you'll be forcing things out of tune. Softness in touch adds dynamics & feel which will make you a more fluid player and make your playing uniquely yours. As well as making the act of playing less physically taxing & more enjoyable overall.

Using a pointy pick will give you a sharper attack and more articulate "start" to the note. Most important thing is to practice to play very clean, if your chops are on point you will sound sharp and defined even through a somewhat "washed out" sounding rig.

Mid range is your best friend, I agree wholeheartedly

Interesting take. I have a Gibson Les Paul Faded and an Engl Ironball SE 20, which I thought would be enough to give me a good metal tone. But I struggle to dial in a sound like Jim Root from Slipknot, no matter if I dial the gain up to 10 or "just" 4, which I'm using currently. The tip about palm-muting further away from the bridge is an interesting one, will definitely try that today.

What is "further to the neck"? Closer to the neck or further from the neck?

Tip if you have a tube amp with master volume and pre amp volume. Put the pre-amp volume down and crank up the master to the max or a little less (finding the sweet spot). Then slowly turn up the pre-amp volume to the volume you want. I did this with a Marshall 100 watt head and it really turned it into a beast
