Both PS5 and Xbox Series X have been a Pre-Order MESS!

This last week has been ROUGH for gamers but lets talk about the entire pre-order mess that Microsoft and Sony have gotten into.

Sony has apologized for PS5 preorders being a bit of a mess. “Let’s be honest: PS5 preorders could have been a lot smoother,” says Sony from the official PlayStation Twitter account. “We truly apologize for that.” Preorders for the new PS5 console began on Wednesday, a day earlier than Sony had said retailers would take orders. It led to a scramble as Walmart and others started randomly opening up their PS5 preorder slots. Some preorders even disappeared after around a minute. Today on September 22nd, 2020 pre-orders went live for the XBox Series X and the Xbox Series S and every website instantly crashed, microsoft's own store went down, and Best Buy and Amazon didnt even bother listing pre-orders. I had to wait in line for 4 hours to make sure I got mine day one from GameStop. Lets talk about this sloppy pre-order failure in a dreamcastguy rant.

Sony now says it will release more PS5 consoles for preorder “over the next few days,” promising that retailers will share more details. It’s not clear if these preorders will be delivered on launch day, and Sony is also promising “more PS5s will be available through the end of the year.” Even people like Wood from Beatemups and Geoff Keighly from the Game Awards are having trouble securing a pre-order for the PlayStation 5 and XBox Series X.

The sad thing is most of the online retailers being sold out was likely thanks to scalpers. So there isn’t really a way to prevent that even if you do preparations. It’s sad tbh.

Best launch was 360. I camped out over night. I think there were about 15 people at the store. We hung out and talked about games all night, then a few hours before opening the store brought everyone muffins and coffee!

If I learned anything from PS5 preorders: never preorder online because the websites will crash immediately!

Wasted my time on line at GameStop....they only got 6 at the store, I was number 8 😑. I got one from like $40 by using my Redcard 👌🏾

I can’t even imagine putting myself through this much trouble to get either of them right now. I would much rather at my own ease make my way to a store, leisurely make my way to the game area and buy a console without stress. I’ll be excited to get a ps5 at one point, but I will not be a crazy guy trying to fight others for it

Nothing will change until the stores start using better software on tracking and stopping scalpers and bots . There are already things being done to reflect them . Scalpers days are numbered!

I hit on the PS5 Target restock the next day after the 1st wave of pre orders. The bots are really making this whole thing one giant mess. In all honesty had Sony given an exact date or time it might have actually been worse. I know people can set their bots for when stuff goes live so maybe I'm wrong. However, you still would have had everybody waiting on their phones and desktops to pre order. It really was a mess by both Sony and Microsoft. Coming from the sneaker community the bots are ruining almost every release. These companies have got to stop up their security for online.

Didn’t get a ps5 or series x preorder. Ps5 I was late and series x my order got canceled.

You thought this was bad, just wait til next year when the newer verison of the switch comes out. That will be sold out before preorders get announced.

The microsoft store was slowed down, but I got through and received my email confirmation for SERIES X 💚. Went back to the store and it was crashing 😂👌

Why is everyone surprised that these pre-orders are a mess?
Every console launch has issues with availability not being able to fulfill demand, and given what's going on in the world at the moment clearly it was going to be even more difficult this time around!
