I think you should recreate the conditions when you destroyed the Badland and see how the Warn handles it.

He wasn’t sick. He was just so distraught about not buying a warren he fell ill. Now he’s all better.

That was one clean installation, can't wait for you to put it through the same conditions as the Harbor Freight winch . Hope you are feeling better.

I still hold to the belief that there was an issue with installation on the APEX winch. I don't think it was mounted securely and it flexed causing the issues

I work for a power company, and we have these on our smaller bucket trucks, one could rainy night I had my larger F800 bucket truck about 60 ft off the road and it was stuck and the only winch we had was on a small bucket .I pulled the smaller unit up to the curb to help hold it in place and that 16.5 pulled a 25k pound truck out of that situation.

WOW CODY!! That is one big winch! But I am afraid you might have to install a 3rd alternator to get full use of it.😁😁

If that stump is still around it sure would make a good video to pull it out with the Warn winch!

Winches are just amazing, I remember 4x4ing with my dad in the mountains, a light snow came in and then melted. So now that steep stretch of tilted cork screw road with a cliff on one side and ditch on the other was now slick with gooey mud and slick surface below and we had to go back across it to get out of there. Luckily forested with trees along the road, my dad had to go from tree to tree to tree with that winch to get us out of there with out sliding down the cliff or getting too close to the ditch. What a boss. lol So happy to see you are doing well Cody!

i got the step down from the badlands apex (the 12000lb er). Been abusing it for months. No problems. I would like the wireless remote.

It's called a fairlead and it's good to put the hook to the side and reel in the slack. The fairlead has a polished surface, winching the hook into it can raise burrs that would wear on your rope. According to the specs, the sound of the winch, at 8 feet, should be 70 dB. Your winch sounds like they forgot to fill the gearhead with lube. I'd get it checked. It could happen. I had a friend, that bought a new Ford truck, 30 years ago. Drove it about 100 miles and the passenger rear wheel and axle came off. When it left the factory, the diff was bone dry.

The info you provide is always very thorough. Thanks for the detail. I know it is a lot of post-production work. Glad you're back. Prayers lifted up for full recovery.

I’ve had one for over 4 years on a f350 bucket truck and it’s been a good winch

Thanks for your ministering and informing with your channel without fail I feel better after watching. Just a tip on cotter pins...they have that long leg to help on installing but Also let's you grip from the side to spread legs open with needle nose. Then use whatever to wrap them.
