My aunt had a Chihuahua named Memo (rip) and a couple years ago he would always growl at the window at night. My aunt chocked it up to the "there's probably a bird" or something. But when she went on vacation she was robbed and the police found out that the point of entry was her bedroom window. She thinks that they were stalking her house to find the right time to rob her.

My german shepherd service dog loves people enough to prefer playing with them over myself. She has NEVER barked at another person and is highly trained NOT to, as a service animal. One evening in a parking lot there was a suspicious looking man standing infront of the entrance to the store staring at me aggressively, and I sensed he wanted to approach me for something, but he didnt.

As we approached the entrance, maeve started barking at him out of nowhere, and even started growling when I tried to redirect her. She has never growled at anything in her life, not even when she used to be leash reactive.


Dogs have senses that you would NOT believe. did you know they have a temporal sense that allows them to gain accurate knowledge of how long ago, and for how long something has been somewhere just by catching a whiff of its scent?


TLDR; If your dog is acting like this, there is almost undoubtedly a threat present.

Loyal dogs know the owner is the master. But in the presence of perceived danger, the dog becomes the master and protector until the danger is gone. Don't get in the way.
