2024 RAM 1500 Limited Review: The Last of the HEMI V8s

The 2024 RAM 1500 Limited may be one of the last HEMI V8 powered trucks, but it is going out with its head up high. I’ve driven many RAMs and multiple Limiteds, but this one was definitely one of my favorites. Let me explain why.

Starting on the outside, the Patriot Blue color worked so well with the chrome that comes with the Limited trim. I loved that the large 20-inch aluminum painted and polished wheels still had a tall sized tire to help with ride quality. This 1500 did have 4-corner air suspension which I always say is the best riding truck suspension across all brands. If you need storage, this RAM has lots of it. One of my favorite things is the RamBox located on the outer rear fender. Use them to store your tools or fill it with ice and drinks.
RAM trucks interiors always excite me with their choice of materials, colors, and design. The last Limited I reviewed, it had premium cloth interior that embarrassed some other brand’s leather offerings. This 1500 did have their premium leather option that took luxury to a whole other level. The stitching design that was accented around the entire interior was done very well. It was a shame that the seat headrests didn’t offer anything to follow. The big 12-inch vertical display made everything easy to access. Thankfully this RAM still has physical buttons for things like the climate control system.

Under the hood, the last of its kind 5.7L HEMI V8 was paired with an 8-speed auto. Although the new Hurricane inline-6 is better in power and efficiency, I’m going to join those yelling on the internet about RAM losing its V8. If it performed poorly, I don’t think people would care, but this V8 was smooth at power delivery. The V8 sound also added to the experience of driving a truck in Texas. I can only hope that the Hurricane’s improvements can overshadow the experience of the HEMI.

Overall, it’s always nice to have a RAM truck for a week and this 1500 Limited was no exception. With just the right amount of easy to use tech and luxuries, you’ll want to consider this for your next family or toy hauler.

Great review! Helped me make my decision to purchase a 2024 RAM Limited Elite. I like it very much so far. Mine was built June 2024, so I think it was one of the last 2024's built. However, it came from the factory missing the side chrome strips that say LIMITED (it is a Limited, not a Longhorn Limited), also, it was missing the center bed step and bed rails with the adjustable tie down hooks, it also was supposed to have a spray in liner (per sticker), but the dealer sent it out to Ziebart to have them spray in the liner, I pulled a car fax because I was curious and there is Ziebart and bed liner as an entry the day before I picked it up. Everything else seems fine, oh except I saw a ding on the front bumper when I picked it up. The dealer is changing the bumper and going to put on the chrome strips, bed step and rails. How weird this happened and that the factory let it leave without theses items -either not quality check for the factory was out of these items when the time came for install. Its been two weeks waiting for the parts, ugh, I am waiting till all installed before I get Ziebart rustproof and then I am taking it to a shop for Ceramic coating.

Had a 2013 Ram 1500 Sport 5.7L - it was outstanding. Bought a 2024 in March, sold it in August. Why? Honestly no real buyer's remorse, but the eTorque wasn't for me, the ride, and lastly the breaking . Theses were subtle differences from the 2013: Start the engine with the normal depression of the brake, put in drive, and the vehicle would surge forward (with foot still on the break). Ride, the vehicle rocked (almost like old Cadi's even on smooth highway runs and I think this may have been due to a much lighter body (aluminum); the tailgate was feather lite. Lastly the breaking, when breaking the electric motor/generator charges the eTorque batter (there is no alternator), and when the driver brakes instead of actually breaking the final 3 - 5 miles per hour of the stop the vehicle wants to surge and the driver has to apply even more pressure to stop. The driver can really feal that added resistance and after 1500 miles that surge seemed to be even more pronounced . Again, most people that never had a large truck may never recognize the issues I just pointed out, but i could. Got such an outstanding price the 2024, that I bought a new 2024 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Limited 4x4 and got money back (even after taxes). Those subtle differences vs my 2013 got me to sell it. BTW, tried 4 different Ford 150's (2024's) and no way, it was such a poor vehicle - same model (V8 XLT) and each drove and ran so differently, how is that even possible?.

Those who think the 6 banger turbo is an upgrade or going to learn the hard way, and obviously have never owned engines are not for the weak of wallet kids.
Glad I got my 8 no one touches the Ram in terms of ride comfort and cabin. No one.
