If on-road presence accounts for anything, then the look of the RAM 1500 Limited is worth the $140K asking price alone.

Then you add in the 4500kg towing ability, the massive passenger cabin with its luxury-level appointments and features, and the ease of which you could spend long hours of mile-munching touring behind the wheel, and it all starts to add up.

4X4 Australia has been the off-road enthusiast’s bible since 1979, bringing its dedicated readers the most reliable 4x4 reviews, outdoor recreation product evaluations, and off-the beaten track destinations and expeditions.

Not much of an off road review guys! You got it wet and and drove on a dirt road... So what?
How was the traction control? Lock diff? 4wd system? Wading depth? Clearance in real terms? Etc...

This is the hardest I've ever seen someone beat on a truck with 22s. I wouldn't have thought it would even do that much off road without popping a tire...

I bought the 2500 6.7lt Cummins back in 2016. I will never tow with anything else. Hardly feels the 4.5t And comfortable to go all day. Cheers Ausgranny 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍👍👍👍

If you want to go off road then buy a rebel or a power wagon. You could easily switch over to 18” rims with all terrain tires as well

The combined 17l/100 fuel consumption is surprisingly good, I don't think a Patrol or Landcruiser would do much better than that on the same route.

I thought 4x4 Australia would do an off road test if i wanted to see an onroad test i could have watched carsales. Need to remove your 4x4 logo if that's how you test

Well would tou buy it after this review by AEV
"was posted by Australian Expedition Vehicles back in June ....

"As an approved person engineer, AEV has been swamped with requests to provide a GVM upgrade post registration to RAM 1500 vehicles.
It is not good news.
These vehicles have a stated GVM and GCM from RAM.
GVM= 3450kg
GCM= 7237kg
FRONT axle Max load= 1770kg
REAR axle Max load=1770kg
Total = 3540kg is the maximum that can be certified on these.
Note the sales pitch has a 4500kg Max Brake Tow Capacity.
Real towing is= 7237 - 3450 = 3787 kg
At Kerb weight of these vehicles are 2605 kg. That's only measured with full tank of fuel and no driver. So with a 4000kg van with a ball weight at 10% = 400kg + driver plus full fuel, these are nearing overmass.
Another known issue is the factory rims are only rated to 885kg (1950 lb), so restricts them from reaching their full axle mass.
AEV has undertaken a full ADR 3505 for a 10% GVM upgrade to 3750kg ( which is for Vehicle Category NB1, medium goods vehicle) brake test on factory brakes and tyres. The vehicles failed the component test at full GVM for the 20 stops from 0 - 60 kmph. Brakes at 530° C.
So please do your research on these vehicles. They are not suitable for a GVM upgrade of even 10%.
Jmacx offroad solutions is working on a SSM GVM to 4200kg, but will require brake, rim and axle strengthening.
Link to brochure from RAM Australia.

I guess the lesson here is to make a detailed investigation and don't take the sales pitch as gospel"

What should I do to my 2022 ram limited 1500 to make it better for off roading rough and bumpy terrain? I know it’s not meant for that but it’s not what I have 😅

will a limited option be available for the 2500 and 3500 officially without a third party importing it?

It is to bad you can not get the 3.0 ecodiesel I have the 21 limited ram ecodiesel and can get 7lt / 100km hwy. Towing is only 7900 lbs in Canada with 321 axle ratio. An extra 1200 lb towing with 392 option.

We have the 2021 Limited and absolutely love it only negative is no locking fuel Tank. 140K I don't think so it's more like 160K.

In the US there in only 10k US difference between a loaded ranger and the limited ram. Reason they outsell all the small trucks.

Does anyone know if they have many issues?
Was thinking about getting a Ford raptor but these are actually cheaper for a 2 year old second one, compared to a 2 year old raptor

In the USA as of 23 January 2023, petrol is .98 cents per litre, while Australia is $1.62 plus. The fact the vehicle is imported complete, pulled apart and rebuilt doesn’t help the cost, not to mention price gouging from local dealerships, bumping up MSRP. These vehicles aren’t purchased to flog out doing 4x4ing in the states from new. The 1500 is the soccer mums car. The 2500 and 3500 are for agricultural style towing. Sure the 1500 will tow and carry trade equipment but there’s a base model for that, designed for work sites. Sadly everything in Australia is about hitting the mud, towing heavy things, which leads to further GVM upgrades and costs, modifying a vehicle not designed to pull your 6 tonne worth of junk outback, making every review the same. How about just a nice luxury tray back vehicle you can throw the kids bikes in the back without having to wrestle 5 fold down seats like our normal option of a 7 seat landcruiser. Or what about just a simple weekend away in the snowy mountains with the skiing kit in the back. This is like taking a 7 series BMW out for a spin on a bush track.

Should see the latest review no way can it legally tow 4.5 unless you change and increase the brakes/axles/suspension.
