I can't believe I didn't figure this out sooner! But after breaking a handful of these on my Ford Mustang, I finally got it, and I'm happy to share this knowledge with you!

Similar clips are found on all kinds of vacuum and fuel lines of Ford, GM, Dodge Chrysler vehicles. The connectors come in all shapes and sizes. Some are more friendly than others! Even with these tricks, they can still be a bit sticky. Just breathe and be patient!

If you do happen to break these clips, here is a kit that contains some sizes that I could not find in any local auto parts stores. If you're really in a bind, you may be able to get away with a zip tie in a pinch (your miles may vary)!

I have great respect for people that can admit we never stop learning no matter what age we are.
Thanks for the great info

Knowledge is power. Thanks for showing the proper way to remove the lines. Most fittings under the hood these days are designed to be broken by mechanics that just don't know how to remove them; let alone the DIY's. And dealers won't just sell you the clips, they'll want to sell you the whole enchilada. Thanks to you and YouTube !

I've broke these clips more times than I can count and have to keep them with my fuel line repair kit. Appreciate it 🙏 💯 🙌

You never get too old to learn. I consider myself a very experienced mechanic, and I still learn something very important occasionally. And, yes I've broken my share of those clips.

Same principle for all quick disconnects, forward tension...Thanks for the great tip; it will save us all the frustration of getting it on and off by design.

OMG! Thank you, thank you! I was trying to get the hoses of an evap canister that had this style connector. I started down the path of trying to pry the clamp out with a screwdriver and then felt it wasn't going to work. Scoured the internet for a while before I found your video, and sure enough - easy as pie the way you showed it!! Thank you for helping me avoid the broken clip route!!!!

I Appreciate the video. We were stuck with the gas tank halfway down hanging on by the fuel lines. We were on our backs in the driveway with barely any maneurability. Frustration started to creep in until i saw your video. Thank you for posting.👍🏽

Thank you! This is probably why every single video I’ve tried to watch replacing a vac pump on an ecoboost just happens to skip removal of the vac line. Thank you!

I knew for sure I wasn’t doing it right so didn’t continue to pull the horshoe looking white clip out, that was the direction I was going too.

Thank you so much. Ive been fighting with this line on the fuel pump for 10 minutes. This took like 30 seconds to figure out and do. Will definitely save me time and not breaking them in the future.
