Remove A Ring Stuck On A Sore Swollen Finger With Dental Floss

Video tutorial on how to remove a ring that is badly stuck on a swollen or arthritic finger, with dental floss or thread when its jammed and starting to cut off circulation. Don't get out your pliers and ruin your engagement ring or wedding ring. Save yourself a trip to the hospital emergency department and use the dental floss string trick. Should also work on a toe ring.

***Tip Jar***

The hardest part is getting it over the swollen knuckle If your finger is turning blue and it still will not come off you can lubricate your finger with vegetable oil, windex, dish washing detergent, soap or some other non dangerous lubricant.

Will not work for nose ring, ear ring, belly button ring or other types of piercing.

Literally, if I haven't tried this method at least 15 times than not at all... it never worked. My wedding ring was stuck for 5 years. I tried this method based on other videos about it, didn't work, even with using soap.

Then today I read an arcticle with some additional tips and this video, which was the first one really clearly explaining how you really should do this! And it WORKED!

If you were curious, these are additional things that could help:
1. Lift your hand up for a few minutes, let the blood flow down to the shoulder from the finger.
2. Put your hand in cold water for a few minutes. (Not ice cold, don't hurt yourself!)
3. Then oil on the finger.
4. Then this trick with the thread in the video. Really, guys, it is important to keep rolling the thread really close to each other. You may add oil before and after this trick.

Thanks for this video!

It works with thread and yarn too (at least for me and my friends it did)
You can also add lotion, butter, foam soap, oil, ice if it hurts really bad after/before/during.

1:56 “dental floss is a little bit ruined”
As if that’s the big issue here 😂

Didn't work the first time my wife tried it, BUT we waited a day for the swelling to lessen. We also used a shoelace instead of dental floss (it dug into her skin less). Removed all 3 bands of her wedding ring with no problem. Thank you for the video.

The fact that this man actually didn’t fake his ring getting stuck like all the other videos 💯

Thank you for explaining this!! I was aware that dental floss could help get rings off, but I had never seen the unwinding from the other side, I thought you just wound it until your finger was skinny, but I just couldn't get it. So I searched for videos and yours came up first, and the unwinding was budging the ring bit by bit, whilst moving the bulge from one side of the ring to the other! I had a purple finger for a wee bit, but moved along quickly, adjusting the wind here and there, but my ring moving forward the whole time, and now it's off! Yay! Thanks!!

This worked like a charm! I am so grateful for your video. My fingers were so swollen this morning that I was certain that I would have to have both rings cut off…and then I found your video. Thank you!!!

You are a savior from heaven! Thank you so much! It helps to have a friend or someone else pull the floss off of your finger. Make sure to tell the person you are with to go slowly and to pull away from the finger!!!

Wowzaa! Thank you! This absolutely worked incredibly great for me. I had a ring on my pinky finger for at least 20 years. My left pinky was getting swollen and I really wanted the ring off. It only took me 3 tries with adding longer floss to wrap my finger...Done! Ring off! Great!
