Birth control implants can often be intimidating and confusing. Birth control implants don't have to be either! Birth control implants can be great options for safe effective birth control.

There are both hormonal and non-hormonal forms of birth control. The Mirena IUD is an example of a hormonal birth control. The copper IUD (paragard) is a form of non hormonal birth control implant.

Both hormonal and non hormonal birth control come with advantages and disadvantages of their own. This video explains how implant birth control works, how birth control implants are implanted and the differences between them.

I got the paragard iud over a year ago. Because of a previous diagnosis of severe depression, I've always been hesitant of hormonal birth control.
So with the paragard I definitely got heavier bleeding, but I also didn't know about the zinc! So I'm definitely going to try that. 😊
But, my periods are more regular and predictable. I think the reason for late or missed periods might have something to do with "synicing up"? I started hanging out with my sister and it took time but our periods changed and now we have it at the same time.
I found you on TikTok and I just had to watch this! Definitely sharing 😁

I'm scheduled to put the copper IUD next month since i tried 2 pills and the nuvaring and had awful side effects. I didn't know about the zync thing, this was so useful! I will take supplement just in case if that's ok!

I got the Mirena IUD, and my doctor says it’s good for 7 years, but on the little info pamphlet it says 5 years. I feel uneasy about leaving it in for 7 years.

Hi i didnt quite get all the info a 100%, can you tell me more about the silver (not copper) iud? I have had it for ten months and my period lasts about 14 days and comes back in like two weeks or three again, so its a bit annoying but im happy because no gain weight no extra acne or any other bad symptoms. I have been considering mirena to reduce my periods but im scared of acne, depression and weight gain

Hello! I have a question! What would you say to the women on paragard who say they have “copper toxicity”? It’s something I’m worried about, but this is really my only option.

I have had the paragard for about 1 year already. I have noticed that my periods are very light but I skip months up to 2 months in a row. I don't know of this is normal since I had always been a regular before this IUD. My cramping is really bad when I do get my period but other than that no other side effects.

I’ve had Mirena for about 3 years now and it was pretty rough for the first few months. But after my body adjusted to it, I haven’t really had a cycle. I have spotting or a very light period but that has pretty much quit completely the last few months. Only complaint is libido but that is environmental more than anything I think. Your videos are awesome and very in depth.

Thank you for this info! Do you or anyone here watching have experience with failed Paraguard insertions? Or being told your cervix is not dilated or large enough to insert it since its a larger IUD? My provider tried to insert Paraguard twice (second time with 100 mcg misopristol) and they said I was not dilated enough and my cervix opening is too small since I've never given birth. Wondering if this is legit or if I should see another provider...?

So I have a question I had the paragard put in a 4 months ago and I did notice that I have way heavier menstrual cycles and horrible cramping, with time will that ease up? Or will it worsen? Also I did not know about the zinc would you recommend taking it on a daily just to prevent hair loss?

I’ve had the Paragaurd in for almost 5 months now and I’ve had missed a period and my period has been irregular never know when I’ll start. But I did notice way heavier bleeding.

Very informative video, thanks for sharing! Have you had experiences with women having the IUD prior to ever getting pregnant and then later getting pregnant once off of the BC? I’ve heard BC can cause issues with fertility in the future but I am not sure how accurate that information is.. Any insight helps! Thanks again for sharing!
