Very helpful, to the point, love the much needed tips of the trade, excellent camera views of the caulk application and technique. I have never caulked before, looking for all the tips I can learn prior to doing this DIY. Outtakes bonus at the end shows the real work of making these videos. Thanks for your content.

I live in a trailer home built more than 50 years ago. Recently, it rained, and the wooden window sills were wet touch when I ran my finger along the wood inside of the house. Water was seeping in between the wood and the aluminum. My windows have aluminum frames. I will try putting caulking between the aluminum and the wood whuke I am outside of the trailer home. I will cover the edge with caulking.

That window is a horrible design. They need to almost put a drain under the sidewalk.

My favorite part is the insects in my garden swarming and biting me while I’m doing this. It’s a constant battle between laying a clean caulk line and swatting the 7 mosquitos on your legs — I’ve been doing the latter :(

leave osi in the sun so it warms up and is easier to come out. also spend $20 on a good dripless caulking gun.

Thanks. Great job on the video. One day late as I did a bunch of urethane caulking on my wood sided outbuilding yesterday. Sticky messy stuff as you mentioned but I am after longevity.

Tight-Bond weather master is better and you can tool the stuff making it look better than a big bead that's not smooth and looks horrible.
Tape first before you caulk so you get clean lines and take tape off after you tool don't let caulking dry before you take tape off .

First, thanks for this great explanation video. And have a question:

Not for a basement window, but somehow more than condensation I see a lot of water happening in cold days in the interior of a window (it's old but can't replace it still). Do you think that could also help applying it from the interior to repeal that happening?

You might want to use some backer rod on the big gap.

Thx will try it instead of replacing whole windows

I’m pretty sure that window has been installed upside down. 1:30 mark look at the top of that window, you can see the drainage holes on the window 😂😂 they are on the top! 😅😂

If I can't flatten it out I'd say a small 45 degree cut will give the best finish

What seems stupid is that area by the window doesn't have any drain areas the whole front side of window.
So if it rains supper hard that area will flood get up in the inside were window slides and might leak into house hopping the seal in or under window has a good gasket or seal with it sliding properly not and if water can't drain off on the out side it will drain into house.
