Bonobos are the only ape that doesn't kill. And unlike any other ape, bonobos help each other out (a lot like humans do). Through the use of "bonobo TV," researchers found that bonobos' yawns are contagious (also like humans). But while they have humanlike traits, their biggest threat comes from humans.

I LOVE bonobos. I wish there were more films and documentaries about them.

Bonobos are underrated. There aren’t enough documentaries on them.

If I was a billionaire I'd buy an uninhabited island and have a thousand bonobos settled there, far from human predation.

They need their own state, seriously. They need representatives in UN. I wouldn't want anyone to hurt these peaceful beings.

We owe it to Bonobos to preserve their habitats and to make sure they remain viable. They are our better selves.

If humans are so close to chimps, maybe we could sell poachers as bush meat and leave the bonobos alone.

This made me cry. Why can’t more humans be like that? I can tell you as a mother I am raising my kids to be generous like that not just towards each other but to everybody

Bonobos: Tree hippies.
Chimpanzees: war-mongering, savage primates that hunt and cannibalize other members of their species

It's safe to say which one we are more closely related to.

Not too long ago, maybe 10 years, I discovered Bonobos, I’m in the US and didn’t know they existed. They have an exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo where I saw them in person………They are amazing mammals, love their demeanor, they are calm and not threatening unlike humans.

How sad that there are poachers that kill them and sell them. Makes me sick. Wish The poachers were hunted.

*PLEASE succeed. PLEASE PLEASE protect this precious species. They would be an utter tragedy to lose.*

People often talk of Chimpanzee's being closest, but you can see in Bonobo's so much of humanity in every way, we need to preserve this species as a responsibility for endangering them in the first place and learn how moving towards repressions in our species ultimately causes allot of problems and hangups which has led to violence.

Bonobos are the best of apes. They are able to use tools quite effectively. Wow! They are so beautiful to watch.

Came here after reading a certain chapter of the book "Sapiens: A brief history of mankind" and I am amazed as to how Bonobos are so human-like. I want to make friends with a Bonobo and they are the only ape that doesn't kill so that really admirable.

3:01 That bathing behavior looks incredibly human! Especially how his eyes squint with water on his face
