Whenever I talk to strangers I will do a higher voice. Anyone close gets the mangirl voice 24/7.

"The ideal volume is below your natural speaking volume"
I'm so shy that the only volume below mine is "on mute", and that actually works for me lol

As someone who has “always hated the way my voice sounds” this is definitely something that I will try. I’m done hating what I have, time to do something about it (even at 58, it NEVER too late). Thank you my dear for sharing.

Slowing down when you speak is actually a very good advice and practice, I find, for my anxiety. It also allows me to appear more deliberate and confident. When I try to say everything in mind, it doesn't give give my words "currency" because no one can tell what is important and what is just a passing thought. It is so hard to do. I just realized this and am practicing and being more cognizant of my words.

Am I the only one who didn't know she was an opera singer?!
AND HERE I WAS THINKING SHE COULD NOT BE ANY COOLER.

Her voice is what authors describe as bells chiming when the wind passes by. It's pleasant.

Special like for NOT having any background music on this video! Also, I believe that you having a smile all the time gives your voice this special warm quality.

"Conscious effort" is the secret key word that I was looking for. I'm fully aware that the sound of my voice is awful, and always been a shy person, and now that I want to practice in order to make a real change on that aspect of my life, this is a blessing to me, so thank you!

A big reason she has such a "good voice" is actually because of her diction when speaking. She talks every single word very clearly and has a lot of control.

You had me laughing out loud at 2.12 -- not at you, but remembering when I would be doing these very exercises in the car, alone at 4am, on my way to present my early-morning radio program. As you'd know, I couldn't drink coffee before going on air because it tightens the vocal cords, so I'd drive along, uncaffeinated, making all sorts of funny noises and faces. One morning at the traffic lights, I look to the side and there's a rather elderly gentleman, doing the same thing and nodding to me, with a great smile on his face. He wound down his window and called out, "I'm a singer too!". Now, I can't sing, but those exercises did help with going on air at 5am! Thanks for the memory and the giggle (and for all your wonderful videos) 💐

Honestly, as someone who loves to casually sing, speaking like this consistently I found my singing voice drastically improved. Also, an added bonus since this technique forced me to properly breathe and slow down before speaking it has helped control my anxiety quite a bit!
Thank you so much for your video!!!

"Get rid of gutteral sounds"
Germans and Arabs have left the chat

Edit: comment the other languages which has them. It's fun to know

You are so true with sounding nervous when running out of oxygen. I never thought of that. When I'm talking to my husband casually, sometimes I find I start to sound nervous when talking a lot, it's not because I am, its because I'm running out of breath. I do often feel my voice box becoming tired to.

I like her voice when she speaks normally.. it’s so inviting and nice.. Her fake soft voice is nice but clearly fake.. but good in certain circumstances.. Her voice is gorgeous no matter what..

1:30 Have voice come thru mouth (not thoat, not nose)
1:55 Lip trills - blow thru closed lips like raspberries
2:40 Accordion metaphor:breathe in deeply & slowly letting out air; let words ‘flow’
4:55 Clear throat *gently* & avoid screaming; vocal chords are delicate
6:30 Min. Inflammation: stay hydrated
7:20 Volume: slightly below ‘normal’ speaking volume
7:55. Pace yourself & include pauses
8:45. Maintain good posture: avoids restricted airflow

I need this for my son. He has trouble with loosing air and not knowing when to inhale while talking. I’m so glad I found this.

I wish children were taught how to adjust their voices. I don’t think parents realize how helpful it would be. I was singing by age 3, and I learned many of the trick you mentioned in this video. Thank you.
