Excellent advice. Yes, we remove ticks from ourselves nearly daily (rural Missouri, USA). I had Lyme's years ago but we caught it quickly and with antibiotics for a month it was cured and I've not had any residual effects. Unfortunately, many can't say this. Ticks are the devil. Nice video.

Wish I saw this video earlier! I found a tick on my pup and removed it as you had suggested. The head was still attached and it was very worried. Great video, I was a little grossed out and very interested at the same time!

Great and helpful / practical conclusion to a creepy-crawly series! I knew tweezers were the best method, but I also thought nail-polish was "just as good, " so good to know that is not the case! Thankfully, I've only had one on my a long time ago and tweezers did the trick, do also good to know I did it right (I was mad at it and didn't want to "wait" for the nail polish to work... haha, controlled anger saved the day and no broken pieces). I'm in the SF Bay Area, CA. I recently found a tick on me, but it was in deep. I twisted it counter-clockwise which is what I knew before watching this video! However, if it's lodged in deep, maybe pulling it directly out isn't the best way?
It seems I got most of it out. I did clean the area and will keep an eye on it!

Apply a drop of oil (baby oil, cooking oil) on the tick. It will cause partial suffocation of the tick, which makes the tick to loosen the grip in the skin. Wait a few mins and remove with tweezers.

thanks luckily I think I found a tick on the same day that I picked it up. Use the tweezers and get as close to the head as possible pull straight up and it came right up with everything attached. Thanks again.

Just found a young collared dove almost unconscious. Big tick on it's neck. Pulled it off and put dove into cardboard box in garage.
Don't expect it to recover but local cat won't kill it.
Last year found a dead bluetit in the birdbath with large tick on it's neck.

I use to hunt years ago with my father RIP Dad when he took them off of me or him he use to burn them with a match an they use to pop. Ticks can survive if u flush them down the toilet or the sink up to 3 days. So we always burned them hope it helps 🙏

You need to freeze them off with wart off etc otherwise when you remove with tweezers they spit more crap in you.

If the head breaks off in your body, no biggie. The diseases they impart come from their internal organs which have been removed. All these videos deal with ticks in easy to reach places. What do you do if the tick attaches in hard to reach or impossible to see places. Several tick species carry Lymes disease. There are 90 tick species that inhabit North America.
