I've never thought about cheating online, offline sure go insane and break that cookie open, but you cheat yourself more online, you could actually BE good and never know because you never tried to improve.

One of my favorite examples of cheaters getting humiliated is by bait-software. With that I don't mean malware or anything but that, but rather something like the programmer and youtuber ScriptKid did, basically anti cheat programs. He made various programs that posed as cheat programs, but instead would punish the player instead of helping them while active, like, taking the CS:GO program as an example, forcing them to drop all their weapons while firing from the hip or having them drop their primed grenades at their feet and unbinding their movement for a few seconds.

Once in CSGO ranked match, 1 was obvious on hacks on the enemy team, that instead of surrendering we just played soccer in Dust2. It was nice to see his tone change from "haha noobs, you cant do anything!" to he went silent as it was very obvious to all, both from our team and enemy team was like "having fun now?". He got burned.
