At first I was confused why so many developers would hide stuff only available to cheaters. But then I realized, by cheating and further exploring the game, you're taking more time to appreciate all the little details they put in.

As long as you're " cheating " for your amusement and in games which aren't multiplayer and especially does not make the gameplay experience of others bad, it's fun to cheat. I still do in games and try to speed run them or breeze through them. Love the mods and funny cheats.

Don't call it cheating, call it tactical infiltration of the game's code 😎

Also notable for the Deluxe edition of The Stanley Parable is the bottom of the mind control facility Easter egg ending. People went out of bounds easily on the first version so the deluxe version disabled jumping but you can still get there with a little bit of jank movement which prompts the narrator to riff on you finding it and the memes of the people that kept sending team screenshots of that area. Additional points for one of those screenshots actually being a promoted screenshot by the devs.

Most of those aren't cheating really, it's mostly free cam, and file/game digging, kind of like data mining, but ingame.

There is a way to get to the secret room in a Link to the Past and it does not involve cheating or clipping. It actually involves finding a specific tree, blasting it off with a bomb and entering the tree with another explosion. No cheating involved, just a nice little easter egg.

First play through I don't cheat... second playthroughs I will for fun. I don't cheat in competitive games and find it extremely annoying to do so. In certain games with online components, I admittedly have "hacked" when certain aspects are completely broken to begin with and it does not bother other players... *cough* Forza Horizon *grunts*

As a game developer I'd like to point out that many of these things are leftovers by the developers during production that sometimes goes unnoticed until a cheater digs up the old files. OR they are an intentional mechanic made by the developers to aid in their own development processes, such as with the Smash Bros. Characters. The way smash is programmed makes it infeasible to custom make 300+ individual characters. Instead they have one single base character (the wireframe actually) that is programmed to accept action based input regardless of where from. Then the player "possesses" the "pawn" to give it input. If you are familiar with modern day game dev you may understand these things better. You'd be surprised how few games fully implement this mechanic however. Smash is a good example of devs making total use of all of their assets.

there's a similar easter egg in the game Jak 3 on PS2 like the one in the Witcher 3 wherein if you use a glitch which allows you to fly in the game to clip through some pipes. There's an image of the 5 lead developers of the game sitting on a table. I remember back in my childhood when I managed to find this easter egg and thought it was really cool !!

I love this channel more than most other ones I watch simply because it always has something interesting to talk about, and tells me so many things about game news and video games that I never would have known before

Not an Easter egg. But in Escape From Tarkov they placed a high value item in one of the maps that you cannot get by simply playing the game. So people who used vacuum cheats would get said item and it would alert the devs of who got it and then they could strike a ban.

I'd more consider some of these as cracking the game open rather than cheating as they don't really give you an advantage in the game more so look at how the game's made, though I would consider the chris hoolighan room as cheating as you can intentionally glitch into it for free rupies

that first one though with the face, I just decided I don't need to function on sleep. I did see something before on Resi Village about how Lady D moves, it's a pretty wide but sadly intentional patrol, she isn't a Mr.X that's moving pretty much at random

One of my favorites is in sekiro. If you escape the final cutscene of the shura ending you can see owl holding Genichiro's head. It's what he places next to Isshin's corpse. It also explains why he had the second mortal blade.

Another notable easter egg I've heard about comes from Paper Mario on the N64. You don't need to be cheating with anything like a GameShark or whatever to see these easter eggs, just really good at performing some very specific glitches. These glitches are typically used by speedrunners to skip through the game.

Anyways, this easter egg can be found in the opening areas of the game by performing some very specific jumps near the bottom of the screen in order to access a part of Toad Town that's normally blocked off until the completion of the chapter. Interacting with any NPCs in this part of Toad Town normally soft-locks the game. This occurs in the North American release, but in the original Japanese release, these NPCs have personalized dialogue such as "This message should not appear", among other things. It's believed that the localization team simply decided not to translate these messages as they didn't believe any players would be able to access this part of Toad Town before they should have been able to, thus leading the game soft-locking as there's no dialogue to load.

The Kyle Katarn within Star Wars is still cannon. Its events from Dark Forces 1 during Empire Strikes Back, DF2 Return of the Jedi, Jedi Outcast when Luke Founded the new Jedi Temple and Jedi Academy following up after that. JO & JA are during The Mandalorian & Book of Boba Fett but many years before Force Awakens.

Its mostly books that have decannonized.
