Every splice connections should be made like this. People stop twisting wires using the wire nut. The wire nut should go over the wires once they have been twisted together like nicely shown here.

Could you show a 4 wire pigtail splice?

I've been doing it like this since like forever, I don't understand those who use pliers to twist. Also careful these joints are not vibration proof.

What gauge is that? Because for the 14 gauge it’s pretty hard doing it by hand

I just stick them in a nut and tighten it down. I have been doing maintenance for 20 years and never had a problem with it this way. I just pull on both wires when I'm done to make sure the threads in the wire nut bite into the copper. I don't twist the wires before or after the wire nut and I don't use electrical tape on the nut. If I have to work on something, I don't want to open up the box and find something that takes me 10 minutes to get loose, just so I can stick a meter on the wire. I twisted wires like this when I first started doing electrical wire but I've actually had bad connections on wires that had 3 full twists inside the wire nut and it is a real PIA to properly reconnect the wires when they're twisted and deformed.
