Hi Tina, my late husband was a PhD nutritionist. He explained to me when I would have burning in my stomach or acid reflux that the older we get our bodies don’t produce enough enzymes in the stomach. So he recommended I take an enzyme supplement. It really helps me. You might want to try that and see if that provides some relief. I hope this helps. Hugs to you.

Wow, first of all, I'm so glad there is no cancer. I'm thankful that the pain is not so severe as it has been. btw, you are smarter that the smartest cookie in the cookie jar!!! And so articulate. My prayers will continue for you, friend. God bless you and heal you.

Bed side manners is so important! My Mom was a nurse & she babied her patients. When I got sick at home, even w a cold, I loved her bed side manners! When I was giving birth to my son, I cried for her. I even called her out. But I was in DC & Mami was in PR.

I am a firm believer in trying to fix the problem instead of treating the symptoms.. but its always a fight to get the doctors to look at what I want.. they are so use to treating the symptoms that i am considered a pain in the hinney because I want to fix or figure out the problem

Dietary changes worth a try. No caffeine! Smaller meals but more frequent. Laparoscopic surgery means smaller insicion but not necessarily less pain in recovery. Good luck! Three months seems like very short time to heal esophagitis.

Hi Tina, I've had those same issues .mine started from stress when I was pregnant with my first child at 22. I think I was over it in my 5o's. I've had my esophagus stretched, where they put baloons in .then I was struck with breast cancer at 52. Now I'm 62 over weight with diabetic conditions from the chemo. I'm praying for you and your health. It's a constant battle. No matter how healthy you try to live your life. May God be your strength to help you and Joe raise those beautiful boys, in that beautiful place. Blessings always

Tina, you are doing fabulous! I’m a pre-op/PACU RN of 25 yrs, and I’ve been involved with hundreds of endoscopies (Upper and lower 😜) and I wish all my patients were as thorough and kind as you! Many don’t really know their bodies as you know yours, and are willing to settle for whatever the doctor tells them. They are ok w treating a symptom instead of the problem and I love your holistic approach! Not everything needs to be solved with a prescription! Changing dietary habits can be a HUGE step towards healing (especially our western diets!!), but I do love that you are willing to try for the short term and haven’t narrowed your mind in what all could help, whether short or long term! Sadly, there are nurses of both kinds out there and I hate that you had such a crappy experience in VA! They should all be like your AK experience with kind, caring, and compassionate medical staff! PERIOD! There is NO excuse for ushering you through cattle pens! 🤨 There can be several causes of a hiatal hernia, as you know, and you really do have to go with your gut (pun intended😅) on what works best for YOU! There are no two of you in the world, and YOU know YOUR body best! Many blessings to you all and prayers for quick healing! ♥️ from Missouri

Praying for healing sweet friend. I've been taking meds for my acid reflux. The Dr changed it to a different one. I never knew so much was involved. I remember when they found what mine was I first thought I was having a heart attack because it hurt all the way in my back. God bless you. Hang in there feel better soon. ❤ Alabama!

Tina what you are going though is exactly what my husband went though in 1995. They did a surgery to put a band on the esophagus that stopped the stomach acid from coming back up. He did an overnight stay they did like 4-5 like stab wounds. He wasn’t on any liquid diet like you said. He got better after a few update visits . He was totally healed. He passed away last August from lung cancer caused by diesel exhaust from airplane engines . He was an aircraft mechanic for 50 years. But that surgery he had was the best solution for him and it never bothered him again. Yes he was one of the first to have the machine to do the surgery the first he would get some pain in his upper chest. A friend who work with a gastroenterologist said when he would get those pain drink ice cold water . It worked it stopped that after surgery pain immediately. After that 1 st year it stopped .He lived a pain free till he came down with pneumonia in 2020 just before the pandemic and that is how they discover cancer on a lymph nodes caused from diesel exhaust. So I pray you find your cure soon and be permanent. God Bless you . 🙏🏻

We’re praying for you and we just moved to Wasilla a few weeks ago. I had a appendectomy (in Maine) about 4 years ago was in bad shape walking around for a week, got a bad infection from the way the doctor yanked out the drain, 2 weeks after that ..my faced turned green, had a super bad abscess infection. I had to have emergency interventional radiotherapy…gave me fentanyl and inserted a 6 inch needle into my abdomen while I was awake. Fentanyl is a bad drug after I came off it felt horrible for like 2 days. My side has been hurting everyday for 4 years, still get chills, been back to hospital 4 x’s. Praying 🙏 for you and a great outcome, we love watching your family, your faith, your animals.

I had the exact same thing and took ppi's for years. I ended up seeing a wonderful surgeon that recommended a Nissen Fundoplication procedure that fixed my hiatal hernia and acid reflux. I am so happy that I did it. Pains are gone.

Tina, I've been on generic Prilosec for 20 years. I have blood work and get regular checkups every 6 months. I have a problem with pills too
but you do what's needed to protect from possible cancer. Asked the Lord for guidance in this matter!!

I’ve had the same exact issues and one thing that really helps me is not eating at least 5 hrs before bed. I stop eating around 5-6pm. Functional medical doctors/naturopaths work with you to find the root cause. Throat Coat brand tea with slippery elm will soothe your esophagus. Hope you feel better soon!
