Bodycam: Police inside Jodi Hildebrandt's southern Utah home

Body cam footage released March 22, 2024, shows when police first made contact with Jodi Hildebrandt after one of Ruby Franke's children showed up on a neighbor's doorstep, emaciated and injured. After physically removing her from the house while they attempted to find the child's sibling, Hildebrandt was allowed to go back inside so she didn't have to stand out in the Ivins heat - something the children were subjected to for days at a time, and one of the specific charges to which Hildebrandt would eventually plead guilty.

For everyone criticising the police officer who laughed and smiled, that police officer was able to get EM to eat and drink, relax and come out. I’m happy that his happy disposition filled that house with real joy, which helped that little girl to come out of believing being happy was evil. Jodi and Ruby made that house a silent prison. That police officer allowed that house to echo with laughter, which would have totally changed EM’s perspective. He was loud, he played music, he laughed, and he was able to short circuit EMs neural pathways to trust and come out from the brainwashing of Jodi and Ruby even just for a short while so that they could save her. Sometimes maintaining a serious, somber tone is simply echoing what the abuser already has in place.
