Father, 2 daughters starved to death in Renton apartment, medical examiner finds

A father and his two teenage daughters were found dead in a Renton apartment in Dec. 2021. On Thursday, the medical examiner ruled they all died from starvation, ruling the father intentionally starved himself days after his daughters died.

I think the people in the comment section are misinterpreting what happened (the reporter did a crappy job) but it seems this was some kind of religious fasting based on some ultra religious fixation. The mother said the girls refused to see her. What we don’t know:their ages, what religion they were following, was the Dad holding them captive, why didn’t the mother have custody(if they were minors), last time seen, was there a history of mental illness or abuse. This kind of reporting is terrible. Telling us 3 people appeared to be starved to death is very misleading.

When I read the title I instantly said “how?” And after watching this I still feel the same way. No community food banks? Help from neighbors? There’s definitely more to this story .

I feel bad for the mom. She had custody of the kids and they didn't want to see her. Something happened to them, I hope the police look further into the whole situation

As a mother…my kids can’t choose whether or not they wanna see me…I don’t care if it’s daddy’s time I’m popping up to make sure they are str8…I’m blowing horns outside to disturb the neighbors…peeping through windows…and trespassing on properties if my kids are inside…whether they want me to or not…NO EXCUSES 💔

It takes 21 days without food to die of starvation. Now 3 days without water will shut the kidneys but these girls, in an apartment complex couldn’t find food for 21 days? Couldn’t scream for help or jump out a window .... something ain’t adding up slick

I forget that teenagers are abused as well. You think that they would seek help, being older and bigger. (NOT blaming the victims). I wonder how many kids I went to highschool with, who were being abused at home and kept it a secret. 😞 It's not just the little kids. This makes me sick. My heart goes out to the family and friends of these girls.

Hearing things like this makes me appreciate my parents even more. Now don't get me wrong I got my behind whooped growing up, but it was because of me being disrespectful(cursing at them and ditching) school. Of course at that age, I thought it was abuse. Now that I'm almost 50 i realized it was because of me being disrespectful. My parents had always told me that "whatever I did to them, will come back to me 100 times worse) and boy were they ever right!!

Their mother lives in my town north of Seattle in Snohomish county. It was so heartbreaking. I was going through our regular community posts of town activities, requests for recommendations, or announcement of a child’s major milestone when I saw her posting looking for affordable funeral services for her girls. So devastating, I hope she is recovering but this has drained her.

Why do I get the feeling the dad starved his kids and himself by choice? Nice looking apartment, I assume utilities were still on and paid for. So how was there no food in there long enough to starve 3 people to death? It doesn't feel like it was a case of poverty and involuntary malnutrition. Something about this seems really off which makes it even more sad and tragic imo.

I just spent time with my 2 adults children & I fed them like they were kids(eat what want). I can’t imagine the pain of losing 1 of mine not to mention 2. My condolences to the family

I’m surprised these young ladies allowed themselves to starve to death. I would steal before I would starve to death. I wonder if it was intentional…like if they made the choice to starve. Poor babies. How devastating.
