it's cozy rosy reads' first ever BIG OL BOOK HAUL! I am sharing all the books that I've accumulated since January from thrift stores, library book sales, borrowed from family, & of course my local independent book shop. I will share where each book was purchased, what intrigued me about them, & the stories they tell. I hope you all get some wonderful reading recommendations from this video & I can't wait to tell you all about them during my upcoming monthly reading wrap ups!

Loved this haul! So many good reads! The Picture of Dorian Gray is a little different from what you described; Dorian doesn't actually realize how beautiful he is until the artist Basil convinces him to have a portrait done and upon seeing it does he realize his beauty. There also isn't really male-male romance more just hints of one of the characters being gay and in love. Also the portrait is never seen by anyone other than Dorian, and one other character but I won't spoil it for you! Really enjoyed this video! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on these books!

We'll need an update on whether you cry while reading A Little Life. I made it all the way through until the end, when I ugly-cried for 50 pages.

Queer is great but Naked Lunch is amazing. My favorite book of all time by far. Right next to Blood Meridian.
I know you said you’ve tried to read it but revisit the chapter “The Black Meat” at some point if you want the zenith of his prose.
Wild Boys and Junky are great as well, stay far away from The Soft Machine. It’s pretty much a lesser version of Naked Lunch that lacks everything that makes the former so wonderful and strange.

I just purchased a copy of “The Anybodies.” I never heard of that book before. I am excited to be reading this sweet middle grade novel !🤓

I've never heard of Woman in the Dark by Dashiell Hammett, but I have read Red Harvest by the same author, apparently it's the original pot boiler detective novel. He also wrote the very famous Maltese Falcon and The Thin Man.
