With Titles like 11 Fake Fees, to Don't Say I'm Paying Cash at Car dealerships, and Car Shortage Crisis, and Car Dealer Says Bring the Car Back!... The Homework Guy Team publishes videos to help Car Buyers. Then we added Cash Buyer Negotiations, and Held Hostage at a Car Dealership, No Haggle One Price Car Dealerships, How Much do Used Car Dealers Pay for Cars?, and Costco Auto Program. We hit all the topics!

A CAR DEALER WANTS TO:
1. SELL every car for the Highest Possible Price.
2. CONVINCE Car Buyers to use Dealer affiliated Lenders / Banks.
3. LOAD every Car Deal full of Fees and Finance Products.
4. OFFER Lowball numbers on every Trade Vehicle.

THE HOMEWORK GUY TEAM (THG) HELPS CAR BUYERS TO:
1. BUY a Car from Dealers or Private Party Sellers at the Lowest Price.
2. PAY Cash or Finance with their own Bank or Credit Union.
3. DECLINE Dealer Fees and Finance Products.
4. TRADE / SELL their current vehicle for the Best Value.

For more than 40 years, dealerships have EARNED their lowly reputation by being the masters of predatory selling. Dealers stalk victims relentlessly, often ruthlessly treating the most vulnerable car buyers (like seniors, for example) with little or no conscience. Car Dealers and their Finance Officers have no problem creating financial devastation for their customers with over bloated car loans, and quite often do. We point out the traps and the flaws of the process, and help car buyers get through the nonsense without being ripped off. We promote fairness, honesty, and transparency. Join our mission!

The Homework Guy Team provides car buying consumers with information, automotive news and updates, industry outlook, buying and selling advice, and other help to level the tables. The public face of THG is Kevin Hunter and the master negotiator, Amazing Elizabeth. Tons of time and research goes into every show, with several projects always on the table, all with the goal of getting it exactly right. From Automotive News Updates to vehicle shopping advice and assistance, The Homework Guy Team is the best there is.

Would really like to see a very in-depth video on Factory Ordering and how to make sure we're not getting ripped of during the process. Particularly what the dealer actually has to do for this process.

Keep boycotting the dealers!!!! Keep the budlight going!!! Do not buy!!! Trigger a price war, but be careful of the lot rot when u get a car at a discount later in the year.

Hate is a strong word. Extreme distrust is more accurate, car dealers are the quintessential greasy grifters of the sales world. None of them provide a value add; This whole sales model needs to be direct to consumer.

It will never happen, but I would really like everyone to be able to see a breakdown of how the money is divided up by the manufacturer, distributor, and dealership including sales incentives, hold backs, and the like. Now THAT would be a Number One Best Seller!

I'll just say it. I hate liars.
It doesn't matter if the liar is a car dealer/salesperson, politician, lawyer, or whatever.

i want to buy a car for the price i see. If its 33k online, i want that to be the price i see when i come in. No games, no "hey since you're here, its actually 5k more". None of that bullshit. We need state laws that does the following:

Ban forced add-ons
Ban mark-ups
Ban "bidding" (if it gets to that point)
Ban "non refundable deposits"
Ban selling of vehicles while paperwork is in process

Dealerships need to be an extension of the brand, not locally owned franchises.

It's like anything else, there are always some that make it bad for all dealers; they don't want to just make a profit, they want to rip you off!

I made an appointment with a local dealer to test drive (through an Internet sales REP) a Hyundai Tuscon hybrid at 6PM on 6/13. I arrived at the dealership a little before 6. No one there was aware of this scheduled appointment, there were no hybrid Tucsons on the property and no one reached out to me to apologize or attempt any sort of damage control. My trip there as a waste of time and I walked away convinced that they did not give a sh1t about the satisfaction of their customers.

The reason why I dislike some care dealerships is the glaring differences on how they do business and the fact that the dealership that you don't want to work with almost always seems to have the last vehicle that you are working for. When we bought my wife's care, the salesman wouldn't tell us how much he wanted for the car. Like he wouldn't even say MSRP or what is listed on the sticker. We sat there for about an hour while he made multiple trips to his "manager" to see what they would offer. We walked out and called another dealership that gave us a price that was below his sticker price. We said, if we can't take the car for this amount we will wait however long it takes for the honest dealership to get the car. Then it took another couple hours telling the finance manager that we didn't want the extended warranty. It's insanity, if congress wouldn't have allowed their lobbyist to set ridiculous laws about who can sell new cars they would have changed years ago.

It's simple; the truth hurts. That's why dishonest car dealers (which, sad to say, are the majority of them) have a hatred or intense dislike for both Kevin and Elizabeth. That same hatred manifests itself in having contempt for its customers. I really hope that your vehicle-buying program that is being implemented can serve to send a loud and clear message to those dealerships who continually engage in unscrupulous practices.

It is not hate, it is greed. Car dealers try to make as much money off of us as possible. And customers are trying to make the best deal so they can to save money. So both collide together and that is where the hatred begins.
If the car buyer can't get what price they are willing to pay, we walk away from buying that vehicle, plain and simple.

Something I learned long ago. Never fall in love with inanimate objects, they don't love you back! If one feels pressured to make a purchase or feels that they are being mistreated, simply walk away. I was lied to by the finance representative at a dealership about the warranty in an effort to get me to buy an extended warranty. I got up, advised the rep that if what he was saying was true I was no longer interested in making the purchase, and left. I was half way home before I got a call from the sales manager advising me that the finance person was mistaken and would I please return and consummate the purchase. One must remember, you the buyer have the ultimate ability to refuse to buy the product.

I don't hate the people at the dealership, I hate the car buying process. I have been waiting months to use your service and really need to buy a new car. I'm disappointed that you aren't going to be helping us here in Texas. I will have to go it on my own. Thank you for the videos.

Thank you for looking out for us consumer THG team. I appreciate all your team’s efforts in educating us against all the dishonest practices that the dealers perform with each and every customers. The latest car purchases (3 years back) I’ve had set and focused on “out the door” pricing and if the dealer was not able to agree with my budget I simply walked away and minimized wasting my time with having to go through negotiations. The way I see it is, the dealers are my potential contractors and if they can’t abide by my contract (price) I simply find another who can. Wishing the THG team all the best and God Bless.

Hate, greed, and envy are all joined at the hip. Money may not be the root of ALL evil, but it accounts for MOST of it.

This is why—
Just got an email regarding the 2023 Toyota Corrolla Cross Hybrid
Daly City CA

“It will have to depend on the trim. The S model will have a $3500 markup while the SE and XSE will have $5k “

So many car dealers are highly organized scammers, and ever incompetent too, that's why they are so unpopular (yeah, hate 'em). And that's why we love you guys. Agreed, they are profit making organizations, and I've defended dealers with mark ups on limited production special models (e.g. Shelbys), but there is a right way and a wrong way to profit off of customers clearly. And I feel they do it the wrong way very often.

Kevin and Elizabeth, Love what the both of you are doing. The education I received from your YouTube channel is impeccable! Bought a condo in Florida a little over a year ago, and locking for a vehicle. What I learned from you gave me the confidence to walk into a dealer with my head held high take control. We've been Toyota leasers and owners for years and looking to buy a New Toyota! Any suggestions on a new or used Vehicle? ...Doesn't have to be a Toyota! Keep doing what you do and thank you!

I have never been to a new car dealership that will sell a new car in California with a 100% return policy. In California, the dealerships over charge, and are not truthful unless it serves their interest. Buying out of state will incur the sales tax and or registration of both states. And in the case of a truck, a trip to be scales and the fees there. That is why I watch your show. I am trying to get the best honest deal I can. And I agree, the salesman and the dealership must make money on the deal.

The more buyers delay the greater the future demand grows, thus the prices don’t drop.

Only options are to accept that you’ll get screwed or make sure you don’t get screwed.
