If something is given to you, how are you stealing it? 🤔

Sounds like someone else failed to do their job correctly

I have zero sympathy when this happens to big chain stores. How about removing the self checkout machines and hire a few more cashiers. Stop trying to cut staff when you’re already a billion dollar company.

This what you get when there is nobody there to help customers.

The customer has no moral obligation to report Walmart's dumbass machines.

on god forbid the richest box store family loses a couple bucks.

They probably thought the we're being paid for doing the checkout themselves.

The corporation wanted to save a buck having that machine there instead of paying a person work 40 hours a week minimum wage

Want to know why people do this?

$7.25 an hour

Y'all straight up lying saying that y'all would give the money back. So your saying if you found $100.00 bill on the street you will return it? That's Walmart fault. An employee put the money in the wrong slot

I have NO sympathy for ANY retail stores losing money from self check outs. Not hiring actual people to do the job is their DEMISE. Do I condone stealing, NO, but how retail didn't see this wave of theft coming is on them and them alone.

This self checkout station got rid of someone's cashier job. The machine hurt people's ability to work and make money. The machine hurt more people than this small mistake. So, I don't have sympathy for the Walmart store.

If a human made the mistake and gave ya the money it's no law broken but an idiot Walmart smurf loads the machine wrong its customers fault

As far as I'm concerned it's Walmart's fault not theirs they should and doing a better job of training their employees on how to put stuff in those machines shame on them for trying to prosecute him with theft

Is the definition of theft is where someone or a machine gives you the wrong amount of change and you keep it? If you go to an ATM, and you typed in you wanted $20 and the ATM spat out $40 due to bills sticking to one another (this has happened), and you keep the bonus, are you off to prison? Even if Walmart decides to press charges (a stretch for such a small amount per person), how are they going to defend their position when the lawyers for the defendants tell the court that they were GIVEN the money by the cash register machine, and didn't steal it? Before automated machines this was all done by cashiers. People are human. Cashiers often give out the wrong amount of change. Is every customer who kept an extra few bucks in a transaction off to Rikers Island?

they didn't do no crime someone put $20 in the wrong place that's Wal-Mart problem. If any one got screwed over it's the American people buy replacing cashier with these Wal-Mart saves money and the government received less money cause that less income tax the government collect and less Jobs

how can you charge them with a crime it was the stores fault

You can’t police morality, They were “given” the extra money, there’s no law that states that if you find something or was given something by mistake you HAVE to return it. No “law” was broken here nor was there a theft.
