What is Concerta and what does it really do? Concerta is not amphetamine based like popular medication like Adderall.

Concerta is basically Ritalin but it has a different delivery method. Hard pill goes into your system and it delivers medication slowly for 8-12 hours. The first coated layer is about 22 % of medication it dissolves first after 1 hour of ingesting it.

The medication is beautiful in the sense that you can take it once a day and not worry about running to the bathroom keeping dosage levels adequate.

Also apparently this coming from my psychiatrists the medication works by helping to norepinephrine and dopamine to increase over the day, like SSRI reuptake, while Adderall actually uses your dopamine storages.

Wait what did you say? 80 mg of concerta twice a day?!?! Isnt that super high? I recently started medication for the first time (ritalin) and it does not work for me. I upped the dose to 40mg. I can feel it slightly but it only makes me less concentrated, so i want to switch BUT! 160mg a day? Isnt that super high or have i heavily misunderstood?
