I had bats in my attic, i treated with ultra sounds taken from Youtube, test the high pitch sound whistle, put light, all of this without result. So I tested buying peppermint oil, I used some 2 oz mixed with the floor home care fabuloso lavender (long lasting freshness, a very strong lavender odor) + water, put all in the classical sprayer used for killing weeds. I put the product only along the wall except the place of bigger holes there bats use to go in and out, thinking to spray there after at night when bats all go out. Oh surprise, all bats goes immediately outside after some dozen of seconds and under the sun they flight around some minutes then disappear after to the big trees. I think the strong odor in the water evaporate with the heat in the attic to make such effect. At night at the same day, they came back to flight around but don't come inside their old residence and now they disappear completely. I hope this experience will help you to solve the problem.

After my ridge vents were installed, I looked for entryways first. Then I placed a strong light and heavy metal music playing loudly in attic to get rid of the bat families. After 24 hours of light&music, I closed up the entryways.
