To add to the cars with the push button start, you still need to put one foot on the brake when you floor the gas with the other to do the clear floor mode.

Yesterday, I had my oil changed. Thanks to you, I knew to buy a black filter, and used the flood mode just after they filled up the oil. I did originally buy the blue one, then bought the black one, was surprised how much heavier the black filter was.

I was so scared that it won't really work and I would have my engine revving like crazy, but it actually worked! Thank you!

Good info. I like using the Wix XP 57055xp oil filters on my Subarus due to the premium construction and it has the correct bypass spec.

Thanks for the link on where to get the black oil filters. I was so close to replacing it with the blue oil filter.I bought two and they came in just in time to do my oil change yesterday. Doing the oil change on my 2022 Forester Wilderness was a breeze, only after watching almost all the videos in your repair playlist. It gave me the conference I need to tackle this on my own. The flood mode worked great and like you had replied on some of the comments on your previous video, All I had to do was step on the brake, gas and hit the push to start to go into flood mode(repeat to deactivate). There wasn't any videos on what I was to expect with the push to start but, follow your directions lead to a complete oil change. Thanks for all your insight and knowledge. The fact that you are not biased is amazing as well.

Interesting and useful. I've never heard of Clear Flood Mode starting, but it makes sense after an oil change. Thank you!

Given: longer break from driving the vehicle.
Question: what kind of length of time is long enough to prime the oil this way?

As I commute by subway, sometimes my car is not used for two weeks. That always worries me when I turn on the engine.

Thank you so much. That's very valuable for me and easy for you to film. Benefits both of us.

Despite the top mount filter, I still pre-fill it. I pour in enough oil to fill the filter, and let it sit for a few minutes. Then I put the filter upside down in the funnel to drain out the oil into the engine. This saturates the filter medium and shortens the amount of time it takes to build oil pressure.

I learned this a few months back before I did my first oil change. Pretty cool trick and glad you're sharing the knowledge

I personally use Mazda (N3R1-14-302) oil filters on my STI, a little higher capacity plus it's made by Tokyo Roki too.

Just went to Amazon to see what they had for sale. But first checked out the reviews.... Just as you Bait and switch was the byword. So I went to Japan Parts first.... way too confusing a website. Then to Amayama: bought three OEM's for less the the fakes offered on Amazon.... Even with shipping from UAE. Thanks Mr. Subaru1387, I'm buying a sticker.

Update; On June 5th, 2022 I placed the above order with Amayama. Today, June 23rd 2022 the Filters arrived. All the "tells" that Mr. 1387 said to look for were there: Printed box...Check! Dotted adhesives on the lids...Check! MADE IN JAPAN...CHECK!!! Thanks again.

I just ordered 5 filters from Amayama for $53.28 total. Ten bucks per filter is pretty reasonable, I think I pay more than that for the blue ones at my local parts store. Thanks again for another helpful tip!

I have an ej25, been using a Mazda N3R1-14-302. Same manufacturer as the original wrx Tokyo Roki filters. Huge difference in quality

The Pure One from Purolator is an excellent high quality alternative.

Don't forget to press the clutch pedal down with a manual transmission. Figured that out on my 2015 Forester.

I am lucky, my local Dealership here in Little Rock stocks the black Japanese filters. I think they are about $9 each.

I have yet to watch the detailed video of the black Japanese oil filter, so this one is such a great timing. Thanks! I got the parts number and the website to go to order so I can buy those for my next oil change, real soon.
